In the interim just use a hitch step like this folding one from Carr. When you don't need the step, fold it up so it isn't sticking out to crack your shin bone on.

Unlike some of the cheap ones available this has a 650 lb load rating. You can customize with a reflector as shown or other options.

Maybe I am missing something but that seems like when the tailgate is down you could not access so it would not be of any help.

Yeah that would be utterly useless when the tailgates down.

Thans. Thought I was missing something. When the tailgate is up there is already a step, the bumper. The Zee Dee thing would be perfect.

Yes, however with the tailgate up you can get into the truck bed.

I had a chevy Colorado years ago that had the step in the side of the bumper and never used because I couldn't fit enough of my foot (with work boots on) in the opening to step up without my foot potentially slipping off. I prefer a solid step as opposed to an opening that just has room for your toes.

As it was with my Rangers and Sport Trac. It is actually easier for me to get into the beds with the tailgate UP.
Not so much with the F350.

Agreed.

I can get into the bed with the tailgate down, it would just be so much easier if there was a aftermarket step option or better yet a built-in one from the factory.

lol so you can use the bumper when the tailgate is closed but you can’t make the extra 3 inches when the tailgate is open?

Looking over the tailgate when it is closed is very different than having a step so you don't have to put things down to get up in the truck. I never need to get up on the bumper when the tailgate is closed but if you did, you can grab the tailgate to lever yourself up. That is very different than trying to carry items up and down and securing them in the bed.i use a small step stool which has made it much quicker and also allows other shorter people to help. Would be nice not to have something built in.

Have no issue to get inside of the bed of the Maverick. I lean over, reach inside. Other trucks may differ, and one prob needs step, a ladder or whatever.
In my old F250, made a graff hook to reach for objects in the bed. That truck sides, tailgate very high. Often used small step ladder to get on tailgate.

The Maverick needs a step on the side rear bumper for us old folks to get into the truck bed. Look at the Chevy Colorado and copy that.
toss a little 2 step aluminum ladder in the bed - it doesn't cost much and doesn't take up much space- and then you're all set.
