Has Anyone Put a Side Rail Toolbox Down Inside the Bed?

I need some storage space in the bed. It became evident when we were out of town with the inlaws and shopping. I've been looking at the size of the side rail toolboxes and it looks like they may sit on the bed floor and be below bedrail height sitting on top of or over the wheelwell arches. The latch would be towards the bedside and the top would open from the bedside. Has anyone mounted one like this?

The only tool box threads I have seen they had to leave a pretty significant gap because of the rounded plastic near the rear window where the outside of the toolboxes are supposed to rest. If yours stops before those or you are willing to take those off and see if the body is rounded underneath, you should be fine.

Are you going to test it out? I have not seen many tool boxes on the Mavericks. One of these days I'm going to remove those plastic panels and see for myself.

I have a different idea. I picked one up today off FB marketplace for cheap. It will sit on the bed floor on the driver's side. This fits like it was made for the Maverick. The front will bolt to the holes in the wheelwell arch made for the 2x6.

Not sure where I will attach it at the rear yet but shouldn't be a problem to figure out.

This will be painted black and lined with black outdoor carpet.
