I am surprised nobody has addressed the question of selecting the right dealer and what to look for. There is a list of dealerships (via a Google Sheet) with either a recommendation or a warning. These are based on new Maverick purchases only.

@fordvideoguy Tim Bartz at Long McArthur just produced a Maverick Monday video explaining the ordering process I would recommend you watch as well.

In general,
  • Make sure the dealer shares with you how many allocations they expect to receive and how many orders they have. A dealer has to have an allocation to schedule your Maverick for production.
  • Make sure they document any/all fees you will be charged at the time of purchase. You should pay MSRP and not be required to pay for dealer added mark-up or required add-ons.
  • Get a copy of the DORA and make sure they know how to handle price protection.
  • I recommend setting up a regular communication cadence with your salesperson. Establishing a working arrangement with your salesperson will go a long way towards knowing what is going on.
  • Get educated... There are lots of good videos from Tim Bartz and others on the process, what to consider when deciding which model to get, the packages, etc. And stay away from DIOs if possible and add them once your Maverick has arrived. There are lots of quality aftermarket suppliers available including sponsors on MTC.
A lot of folks will tell you how to configure your Maverick. In the end, you are the one who will live with it. Thus, I suggest you order what you want and can afford. I purchased an XL Hybrid in 2022 and realized I didn't care for it. I sold it and purchased an XLT EB AWD in 2023 and know I made the right choice. It's only for sale because I concluded I want an F-250 Super Duty with at least a 6-foot bed.

My family and I love the Maverick. There are three in the family (until I sell mine). I hope you have a great dealer experience and love your new Maverick too. Don't forget to post pictures when you take delivery.

I have never understood the argument that you can't get a nice Maverick.

Have you sat in an F-150 XL work truck? Should people only buy XL F-150s and not spend the $30k on the Platinum trim? Because at the end of the day it is largely the same?

Yep - a base XL SuperCrew goes for $43k and the top of the line (non-Raptor) Platinum starts at $73k and you can safely add another $15k in additional options.

While I agree that the XL AWD Hybrid Maverick represents the best value you can get - if you can afford a Lariat and you like the creature comforts - the Lariat trim still represents an excellent value for the feature set you get.

An XL AWD Hybrid 4k Tow w/ CP1.0 and spray in liner is going to cost $32,145.

My Lariat is $39,300.

So for a bit over $7k more I can have every available option where as to do that in the full-size F-150 you more than double the price of the vehicle. $45k.

That is why the $7k jump is an exceptional value, still.
Excellent points, I never understood the argument either and I've had a XLT and now have a Lariat. I get if you don't have the money but if you can afford it go with the Lariat, it just makes the Mav that much better. I've often wondered if most of the people who call the Mav cheap (as in quality) aren't XL and XLT owners. Yes, the Mav isn't reeking of quality even in the Lariat trim but the way the Lariat is appointed and things like extra sound insulation at least it makes it more on par with other vehicles of it's class.

it’s just a perplexing viewpoint on the Maverick seeing as just about every car manufacturer (save for Tesla) has a tiered trim level for their vehicles that is all based on the same platform and drivetrain.

As I pointed out with the F-150 - you can more than double the base price of an XL Super Crew.

You get so much for the $7k to jump from XL to Lariat in a Maverick it’s a no brainer for me.

My money would be on an XL Hybrid AWD with 4K towing in Eruption Green. I never understood the rational of paying for the Lariat package on Ford's cheapest vehicle. You still get the same drive train just with bells and whistles. Lipstick on a pig. I would not be looking at the Maverick if I wanted luxury. The Maverick represented a cheap, economical, and versatile daily driver. Technology is great but cheap technology is a disaster.
Since I will be having to kiss that pig for several years, I want the lipstick! Lariat now adds in a lot of things that used to be Lariat options that kicked up the price. Then my wife wanted a moonroof! Let the noise and leaks begin! I got Eruption Green and the 4K tow package. I choked a bit on the $41k price, but there will be a lot of pig kissing going on.

Get a Mustang Club of America membership for $35 and it’ll bring that price under $40k with X Plan.

My AWD Hybrid Lariat with 4K tow and moonroof is $39,300 with X plan.

Since you say you're ordering get everything you want, and nothing you don't. I do like the look and changes of the 25s a lot, The only thing I hate is you can no longer get a front wheel drive EcoBoost.

In order to get an EcoBoost you must now get the all-wheel drive version which I have no use for whatsoever, if the roads are that bad and snowy I don't go out or to work.

Since you're placing an order that will give you plenty of time to save up for mods.

Good point. That is a valid consideration. Thanks.
My Ford dealer mentioned that there could be times where all 4 tires need replacing (due to a flat tire) bc if the front tires let's say have worn tread, then your flat might need all 4 to satisfy the AWD system!
Ordered FWD today. Velocity Blue XLT with Lux pkg!

That's exactly what I did, got a Mustang Club membership to get X plan pricing.

In the current market it is the easiest guarantee to a vehicle in demand for less than MSRP.

"My dealer said" is my favorite drinking game. Your dealer is a liar. There may be a situation where all 4 of your tires are worn to the point of replacement and putting 1 new tire on would not make sense - but that has little to nothing to do with your AWD system.

Congrats on your order! Since you were convinced to not get AWD you had to go XLT to get the hybrid FWD but with the lux package you still get some nice appointments.

My advice is to get what YOU want and not what forum members may tell you to get. Not everyone needs or wants AWD, 4k tow, Lux package, etc.
This is good advice. I keep thinking maybe I should go up to a Lariat. Did it again today with the build and price. Would be nice for adaptive cruise, but I don't do alot of driving. Would be nice for B & O sound, but again, I don't spend alot of time in my truck. Those are the 2 things I would like in my new truck, but I can't justify an additional $5,000 for them. So i always go back to my original XLT order.

Yep. Spoiler alert: Their dealer also sells tires.

Yeah especially because Lariat locks you into AWD which you don’t have on your XLT.

If you did it would close that gap by $2200
