Holy crap dude! How did you manage to cop a Flash for that good of a deal?! I am jealous! I would be a Lightning owner if I had had the cash on hand to buy one (I don't take out vehicle loans). Congrats!
Ford is literally burning these trucks to sell them…$14.5k on the hood right now.

buy one and immediately assumed 50-60% loss….

I got rid of mine in January before the slow down - thanks gosh I did!

Never mind. Apparently the only really great deals on the Lightning is if you are a Ford employee.
X-plan is for non Ford employees. You would be surprised how many people can qualify with little to no effort.

Right you are. I just checked the Ford Partners list and the company that my wife retired from earlier this year is on the list!

I wanted the Lightning, but I'm a has to have all the bells and whistles or close to it type of person. The Lariat was and still overpriced (to me). I ended going with my Maverick.

What dealership?

My journey with the Maverick Lariat has been great. I have had no complaints and the hybrid has averaged 51 mpg over the last 13k miles.

The AWD Hybrid and 4k are both great options that I wish had been available starting in 2022. When compared to the 2023 price, I feel that Ford has really missed the value mark with the 2025 Maverick. I ordered the Maverick in 2022 because I wanted a small, inexpensive truck with more than the basic features offered on most sedans and small SUVs at the time. At $32k the Lariat Luxury Maverick's value was impossible to beat. Today, after years of delays and price increases, the Maverick is still a good option for many families but at $$39k+ for a Lariat, the value is harder to justify.

I found a new 2024 max tow package Lightning Flash with $29,500 in savings before trading my 2023 Maverick. The Lightning ended up being $1800 more than a hybrid AWD Maverick Lariat with 4k tow. For me, this offered a substantially better value and I did not have to wait potentially a year or more.

I only drive about 7000 miles per year and my employer offers free EV chargers.

Best wishes to all past, present, and future Maverick owners.
You have made a great choice! I feel much the same, except I am keeping my Mav a little longer.

The current tax credit is claimed at the time of sale.
But if you do not have a tax due of $7500 you have to pay back the amount of tax credit you do not qualify for. I do not believe any tax credit not qualified for can be carried forward to the following tax years.

Well, I'm off the Lightning option for now. How in the world the OP got almost $30K off of a Lightning Flash was a 1 off deal obviously. Even getting on the X-Plan pricing with a couple rebates and the $7500 federal tax credit, $15K off an $80K Lariat is the best I can do.

Congrats on the lightning.
I was looking at one back in May, it was a 2023 PRO. Sticker was about $55K if I recall correctly. Dealer had it down to $42K minus the $7500 federal tax credit and 0% for 60 months vs the 5.5% I was paying for the 2024 AWD maverick. My monthly payment would have been the same, considering the gas savings since I can charge for free at work. I couldn’t sell the maverick fast enough to get that lighting deal. By the time I sold the maverick the lightning was gone.

I was bummed that I missed out but the silver lining came two weeks ago when I picked up a new 2023 gladiator rubicon sticker $61K for $40K plus tax

Yep-Looks like Ford is getting greedy by steadily raising prices for the Maverick and is going to to kill off demand for their little golden goose -sad!
I don't want them to raise prices obviously as a potential buyer but that's what companies do. They raise prices until they see demand take a hit otherwise they look at it like they're leaving money on the table. If they could sell 200,000 Mavericks a year for an average price of $30,000 or sell 200,000 Mavericks a year for an average price of $25,000 what do you think they're going to choose?

I think your Lighting journey will rock. No gasoline. No maintenance. I think I read you can power your house, which basically means your Lightning is a free $10,000 backup whole house generator. I just watched a video where a guy owned a Lightning for two years and loved it. He had zero issues. Just a fine ride. Can't wait for a BEV small truck to arrive from Ford. They say NLT 2027.
I'm not anti-ev or anti lightning but if I'm not mistaken the proprietary stuff you have to buy to power your house with it is pretty expensive and unless you're in an area that has a lot of power outages or lower electric charges at certain times it doesn't seem to make sense

The EV market isn’t what they thought it was going to be. Ford is basically cutting their losses.
https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2024/04/24/business/ford-earnings-ev-losses
Don't want it to turn this into a threat about EVS but yes they are not selling quite as quickly as some thought they would but they are still increasing market share even this year. Just not as big an increase as thought. Also I like the lightning because it looks normal but when you're looking at range or charging rates compared to other vehicles that are coming out now it's not really that competitive so they have to lower the price. But that's how to market works. Their next effort will be better.
