Putting the Maverick to work

It was time to start putting the Maverick to work and I was very pleased with the results. This was a 2500 lb skid plus the trailer weight and had no problems pulling. The truck dropped 1 inch once the skid was loaded on the trailer. 2.0 4K

I recently read a magazine article regarding a Maverick reivew. Some type of Trialering magazine of some sort (forgot the name).

They tested a 4K packaged Maverick, while pulling a 4000 pound (exactly) trailer and stated, "The power and control was so good with this Maverick that we're perplexed as to why the tow rating isn't higher than 4000 LBS."

Because if the trailer weighs more than the vehicle it compromises handling in extreme circumstances. Maverick weighs around 3750.

In my early horse owning days I hauled a small two horse trailer with a Dodge Dakota and there were a couple times I experienced the trailer jerking the truck around (approx 4k vehicle to 5k trailer and horses) I moved up to a heavier truck as soon as I could afford it!

I will never forget the time I rented a skid steer and they didnt have the one I paid for but gave me a bigger one. I had a 8000lb rated trailer towed behind a 79 4x4 E250 460 big block with a class 5 hitch. That damn skid steer had metal tracks and weighed 9000lbs plus 2500lb of trailer. That things tires were set to pop!!! But I made it the 24 miles and down my winding hilly dirt road. The van weighed 8000lbs so it want horrific but there was a bit of a pucker factor.
