I have never towed anything in my life and I have never "off-roaded." I wanted a Lariat in Velocity Blue and at the price I got it for, I took the unnecessary extras. Although the Maverick was excellent, it was just a little smaller than I like.

Personal preference I would assume, imo the hybrid power train is solid, as is the EB, for me I prefer the EB. Different strokes for different folks

As William Wallace proudly proclaimed "FREEDOM!" Why did you buy a Maverick instead of a Tacoma? After all 95% of Tacoma owners would say you made a bad choice. Why I bought an EB is my decision and I feel no need to denigrate your decision to purchase an hybrid to feel better about my decision. I'm very happy you like your hybrid. Different strokes you know

Because some people aren't interested in hybrids, period, and "similar" is not "same."

Good point on similar vs same, EB does have a performance edge if its needed, yet my hybrid is peppy, towed my 4k boat, so good enough for many. My old 2005 Escape Hybrid went 150k w/o a single shop visit before I sold it for a good price after 10 yrs , only 1 brake change at 100k miles, and it looks like the Mav Hybrid on track for the same, al the while getting better mpg and avoiding potential EB & Turbo issues, but to each there own.

Why not Tacoma? I would agree Tacoma is historically the best truck out there, however newer models/engines have not been as well received and the hybrid max doesnt get good mpg.- I was trying to reduce my vehicle count, I had a a wonderful range extender hybrid Chevy Volt and also an old Dakota and wanted a single vehicle, preferably truck but considered suv, to replace both- Did not want 20mpg for my only vehicle. wanted a phev/rhev but no such animal in the US, so Mav Hybrid was closest to this goal and Tacoma was not. IF I wanted to replace both then some version of Tacoma would have been high on the list.
Oh BTW, absolutely not trying to denigrate anyone's EB decision, just trying to understand.

I couldn't be happier for you. I have seen multiple instances of people having multiple issues with hybrids in this very forum, and I have certainly seen more hybrid-related recalls.

Congrats! As much as I like the Maverick if the Ranger had a hybrid focused on MPG I would be really interested. I checked out the Ranger when it first came out so would have to sit in it again etc but remember liking the cabin and the roominess, however I do really like the easiness of getting in and out of the Maverick, seems to be perfect hip height for me

I waited for the 24 Tacoma and while it was nicer materials inside it was also more cramped inside. I was pretty disappointed I didn't feel as comfortable inside. Maverick offering a MPG hybrid and Tacoma not was just extra incentive for the Maverick

I might be joining you soon. I was really unhappy with my Maverick after a recent trip to Idaho. I've always loved the Ranger and previously owned one in my early 20's. I almost bought one but was turned off by the prices at the time. If I still lived in Portland my Mav would be an awesome little truck but living in a pretty darn rural corner of the state (23 people per square mile vs the national average of 97 per square mile) I'm finding this truck really struggles when I get out of town and onto the remote state highways. We get a lot of wind in my area and I'm growing tired of being tossed around by it in this little truck. Not to mention I'm finding that I'm getting close to that 4k tow limit more often than I thought with all the summer yard projects we got going on.

Its no where near similar.
My 8 speed tranny Ecoboost with its Turbo has a soul. A personality when I mash the gas.
It speaks to me.

I test drove a Mavbrid, it was nice.
Had a great Hi-Tec feel.
But no soul, felt like I was driving an appliance.
It was a bit creepy to me.
I’ll likely buy one someday just for the hell of it.

What's your right size? Colorado? Tacoma?

Apparently for @Geo8866 the Ranger seems to be the right size. I will admit the bed of the Maverick needs to be half a foot to a foot longer. But for 98% of my needs it works.
