Insane deal, congrats!

PHEV = FWD only, right?

Maybe in 2028 Ford will release an AWD plug-in Maverick with 4k+ towing. I'd be interested, but by then there should be a lot more competitors, we'll see how that shakes out

In the grand tradition of MTC I am making my farewell (for now) post. This one will be a little different as I am not here to dump on the Maverick. I had no problems with my ā€˜23 for the year and a half I had it. I really had no thought of getting rid of it until last week.

The idea of a ā€˜25 crossed my mind so for grins I checked what Carvana would give me for my Mav. I was shocked that I could get more than I paid OTD. Then the idea of a new one became very real.

I went to my dealer the next day to check them out and see what they would give on trade. They would give me what I paid but the new Mavs are quite a bit more. Then my guy, knowing I’m always looking for a good deal, told me the best deal was on the ’25 Escape PHEV for Ford A/Z plan buyers. The Escape plug-in hybrid I purchased has a sticker of $39895. With the A/Z plan stack of incentives, I got it for $28220 out the door. I don’t blame you if you don’t believe me because I still can’t believe it. After my trade it cost me $1400.

For that $1400 I gained:
new 3 year warranty
dual zone climate control
intelligent access with push button start
remote start
adaptive cruise control
BLIS with rear cross-traffic braking
evasive steering assist
intersection assist
lane keeping system
rear parking sensors
heated steering wheel
heated seats
fog lights
one touch up and down power windows front and rear
sync 4 with 13.2ā€ capacitive touch screen
Wireless Carplay
power driver’s seat
plug-in hybrid system with 35 miles of electric only driving

For the money, with the pile of incentives on this, it is a much nicer vehicle. I know it’s not a truck. I really didn’t need a truck when I got the Maverick. I got it for its inexpensive price.

I really liked my Maverick but the I am beyond ecstatic with the deal I got on the Escape.

Congrats on the new Escape. We have a 23 Escape hybrid and it's a really nice setup. My wife originally wanted a Maverick Hybrid but that's when they were impossible to get and her order never got built. Honestly her Escape is way nicer than the Maverick she had on order plus they were offering 0% at the time.

I see you are in MI too so I'm curious what the difference was on insurance going from your Maverick to the Escape PHEV? I'm wondering if the much bigger battery in the Escape PHEV equates to higher insurance costs? For giggles I had my insurance agent friend quote me insurance on a Mustang Mach e and it was literally 2x as much as the insurance on my 24 Mustang GT, lol.

As far as I am aware, Ford doesn't offer an AWD hybrid on any other models besides the Maverick, so this would probably be FWD-only. I think maybe the Lincoln Nautilus has optional AWD on their hybrid drivetrain, though?

Thank you for the pictures.
If Ford would produce a plug-in Maverick, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
My wife's is still too new for that (near the end of the first tank; will we hit 500?), but if dodge gets off its tail and ship the ramcharger before I order a powerboost, I'll likely order it (at least if they price like powerboost, not Silverado ev!).

Powerboost F-150. I'm not sure the you can still get it with 2WD (which only comes on lower trims). [ok, F-150 is 4WD, not AWD]]

Well, good luck on your new ride. And as they say in France, goodbye! That's what they'd say in France if they were speaking English.

Ahh. Fair. I forgot about the hybrid F-150.

Counter-argument to that is the hybrid F-150 is more utilizing the hybrid for low-end torque rather than fuel efficiency. The EPA rating on that is pretty abysmal for a hybrid last time I checked.
