In the grand tradition of MTC I am making my farewell (for now) post. This one will be a little different as I am not here to dump on the Maverick. I had no problems with my ‘23 for the year and a half I had it. I really had no thought of getting rid of it until last week.

The idea of a ‘25 crossed my mind so for grins I checked what Carvana would give me for my Mav. I was shocked that I could get more than I paid OTD. Then the idea of a new one became very real.

I went to my dealer the next day to check them out and see what they would give on trade. They would give me what I paid but the new Mavs are quite a bit more. Then my guy, knowing I’m always looking for a good deal, told me the best deal was on the ’25 Escape PHEV for Ford A/Z plan buyers. The Escape plug-in hybrid I purchased has a sticker of $39895. With the A/Z plan stack of incentives, I got it for $28220 out the door. I don’t blame you if you don’t believe me because I still can’t believe it. After my trade it cost me $1400.

For that $1400 I gained:
new 3 year warranty
dual zone climate control
intelligent access with push button start
remote start
adaptive cruise control
BLIS with rear cross-traffic braking
evasive steering assist
intersection assist
lane keeping system
rear parking sensors
heated steering wheel
heated seats
fog lights
one touch up and down power windows front and rear
sync 4 with 13.2” capacitive touch screen
Wireless Carplay
power driver’s seat
plug-in hybrid system with 35 miles of electric only driving

For the money, with the pile of incentives on this, it is a much nicer vehicle. I know it’s not a truck. I really didn’t need a truck when I got the Maverick. I got it for its inexpensive price.

I really liked my Maverick but the I am beyond ecstatic with the deal I got on the Escape.

I don't blame you I would have done the same. I am encouraged that the Maverick holds it's value like that too!

We went to look at the Maverick in 22 but ghe didn't have the AWD Hybrid we were looking for so we bought an Escape AWD Hybrid!
Flash forward to 2025 and Ford brings out the AWD Hybrid Maverick do we ended up with the truck we originally wanted. It's even the same color as the Escape!

Congratulations on the new Ford PHEV Escape.

Our retail-ordered 2022 PHEV SEL Escape in Atlas Blue has a black interior. Purchasing it made sense because the PHEV version qualified for high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) or 'carpool lane' stickers in California. It's my wife's Escape. She commutes 74 miles round-trip but has no option for charging at work. Thus, she drove the first 30 to 33 miles in EV mode before it transitioned into hybrid mode. She topped off the tank each Sunday since she hated topping it off during the work week.

She has confiscated the leased Mach-E, so the PHEV Escape is used sparingly during the week.

It is subject to a recall that prevents us from being able to plug it in.

Enjoy the better ride, features, and gas mileage.

Prolly has more room in the hatch than our trucks! 🤔
nope. doesn't. which is why i have a maverick now as well.

the rear seating is a little larger. i haven't directly measured but i'd say a good 4" or so. with the seats up the rear cargo isn't as large as you think. my maverick is a few inches longer than my escape. and the bed is easily larger, i'd guess 20" or so. i need to get a tape measure out some time.

i rarely have 4 passengers, more likely 2 of us + 2 medium sized dogs. they go in the back. the maverick gives us plenty of room for 2 people up front, dogs in the back, and a lot more cargo space than the escape does.

btw. escapes are being discontinued after 2026. ford is killing them off. so get one if you want one.

Perhaps one reason for the discounted Escape is the rumored discontinuation of the Escape next year?

I looked pretty hard at the Escape, they're a nice car and the PHEV is cool but I was stuck on getting AWD and kinda need a truck more than a station wagon.

Good luck and happy trails!

Yeah, I know. I got rid of my "Escape" with a bed, and got the one without.
Well, that's one way to look at it. Whatever floats your boat.
