I am usually not negative, but I have to wonder, why a spot that is unpainted under a piece of trim matters? We all know the overall quality at Ford is not terrific.

My question is, is the hybrid badge located in the "right" spot, consistent with other hybrids? If so, it wasn't placed to cover a paint defect.

Another guess is, does the factory purposely put the dot there as a reminder in the assembly process that a badge goes there?

No, I'm not volunteering to remove mine just to answer the above question. :sunglasses:

My hybrid badge: Bottom is 3 1//2" from the bottom edge of the tailgate and 1" in from the left edge.
I took mine off.
Paint was perfect under.
This is most likely a one off.

Just warm it up with a hair dryer.

Why would you take the hybrid badge off?
If I had to park my truck outside, I would remove my Hybrid badge in an attempt to thwart my catalytic converter from being stolen.

In my neck of the woods, the word Hybrid equals high value cat.

The Ecoboost doesn't have a catalytic converter and the Hybrid does?

You can't really reach either of them as they are very closely coupled to the engine or turbocharger.

I could see a crackhead thinking that the resonator might be a catalytic converter and sawing it off, though.

An odd assumption to make. Both variants have catalytic converters.

I believe what dhill59 is getting at is that hybrids often have more of the precious metals in the converters to counteract the issue of their engines not running/getting up to temp as much. They need more of the pricey stuff to be as effective as a non-hybrid. Priuses are known cat-theft magnets as a result. Add a little ground clearance to the equation, and you are making a vehicle pretty attractive to thieves. As colin said, at best the dumb ones will probably just tear up the exhaust, but I wouldn't want to deal with that, either.

Exactly, the hybrid badge is important to first responders who need to know that the vehicle has the battery and they need to handle it differently, particularly in case of fire.

I've seen this before on Colorados when people remove the black vinyl on the pillar between the front door window and the rear door window. Bad paint or no clearcoat, etc. But a badge? never.

When I removed the dealer badge, I didn't have this issue. But I have no intention of removing the Hybrid badge. Why would you ever do that?

Why are you ashamed of having a HYBRID label on your truck?! Do the big boy truck owners make fun of you? Just remind them you get 3 times better gas mileage and don't fill the tank for $100 Bucks...

some people just like to debadge for a clean look. it's a smaller community of enthusiasts than those who like to add more badges, but it exists.

People (especially around here) will add all manner of completely non-functional adhesive-backed farkles and crap to their trucks, but someone takes an unnecessary OEM badge off, and minds are BLOWN. :D
