Any information on estimated MPG for the hybrid AWD?

Tim Bartz was saying on average AWD vehicle gets 2 mpg less than their FWD counterparts so Ford is shooting for 40 mpg

Does anyone have insight on why the AWD gets slightly poorer mileage than the FWD? I'm guessing it's a combination of additional weight and more overall drivetrain resistance, but don't know for sure what the primary factors for the reduced mileage would be.

Also, does the modified gearing for the 4K tow package change the rated mileage at all? I'd think that a changed drivetrain gearing might impact mileage, but am not finding any info in that area at all.

More weight and more components to spin equals greater frictional losses.

With the CVT it shouldn't really matter because the lower final ratio would be balanced out by the variable planetary ratio being able to operate higher (in ordinary driving). It probably would impact the top operable speed of electric mode, though, as that tends to be limited by the RPM of the electric drive motor which is a fixed ratio. Then again given the Maverick's aero it's unlikely to be able to run on pure electric near that speed (~82 mph IIRC) regularly unless you were going downhill.

So refreshing to see someone who understands how the eCVT and planetary gear system works! Drive ratios are somewhat meaningless with the Maverick Hybrid's eCVT.

I'd like to know what Ford really did to "beef up" the transmission for 2025 - I work in a facility that makes planetary gear boxes, and it's interesting to think about what changes they made to ensure the truck is 4K-tow capable, but I haven't seen any specifics yet.

In Michigan, where it's just now getting above 40 degrees, I'm getting about 33 city and 28 highway. I am not driving in eco mode and trying to squeak every MPG out of it though. Most say that city MPG should be closer to 40mpg when the weather stays above 60F.

That's pretty good for an EcoBoost.

This is for the 2025 Hybrid. I have a 23 EB as well. It isn't getting nearly the same. I've been at more like 22 city and 25 highway.

I have an 86ish mile round trip commute, ~ 5 miles of 55 mph country road, 1 mile of 30 mph town, and 36 miles of 75 mph expressway.

Yesterday, the drive-in was at 28F and I averaged 28.5 mpg on the dash. The same trip home was at 60F and I averaged 36.8 mpg. ECO mode, set the cruise to 71, with a driving style similar to that of the morning.

Over the weekend, took a ~ 2 hour 100 mile driver's training drive with a 15 yo and she got 45 mpg on 55 - 65 mph roads @ 55-60F outdoor temps.

25 Hybrid AWD, still under 1000 miles on the odometer. All rural roads, small towns, and expressways in Northern Lower Michigan.

It is really crazy how much the milage varies based on ambient temp.

We had our 1st 60deg day yesterday and I saw much more highway speed (60mph) time in electric mode then I have ever seen on my drive to/from work.

I drive 48mi one way then drive that same route back every day. Traffic is basically a non-factor. I set my cruise between 60-63 and drive in eco mode. On days over 40degs I have been averaging on the dash around 36mpg. On days under 40degs I have been averaging on the dash closer to 30mpg.

I should add I have 1800 miles on it now after about a month. So things are starting to get broken in as well.
