Mid size base SUVs are starting around 40k...
I said mid-range, not mid-sized.

2024 Toyota RAV4 AWD LE is $31400 and qualifies for 3.99% APR for 48 months, so cheaper than Mav. Plus will have better resale.

2024 Honda Ridgeline RTL $42500 vs Maverick Lariat w/moonroof @ 39,500. Only a $3k difference gets you a larger bed and 1k lbs more towing. Plus Ridgelines hold their value.

2025 Chevy Blazer starts at $35k, Traverse is $37k. Equinox starts at $28k

Hyundai Santa Fe starts at $34k

Yes, the $26k base Maverick is still a competitive deal vs an SUV, but when you get into the high level XLTs or Lariats and they're pushing the high $30k's or low $40k's, other options begin to be more appealing. And that doesn't take into account that the used truck market has corrected. I can find tons of low mileage mid-sized trucks for under $30k in my area now.

I love my 2023 XLT Maverick, but it was <$30k when I ordered it in 2021 and $31k when I bought it in Feb 2023. I priced out a 2025 with the same options and it would be $36,500. Couple that with interest rates sitting around 6%, I wouldn't have been able to afford my truck if I had to buy it in 2025.

I was at my dealer this morning for an oil change and BCM recall. They have not received and calls or order request on the 2025 Maverick.
I don't have the data, but pretty sure all truck prices went up. I like the looks of the 2025, it'll be interesting to see how the sales go.

Does anyone know what the EPA estimated MPG hit is for adding 4WD to a hybrid?
I average around 46 MPG (measured @ pump) on the FWD hybrid.

I have a 2024 Hybrid XLT; I don't really need AWD or 4000lb towing. Just for fun, I filled out the order sheet, a 2025 would cost me almost $2500 more than my 2025 did. Not going to be ordering one

Was looking forward to ordering a '25. However, with the price increases, and my '24 being such a great truck, a lot better than my '22, I'm going to pass. I'll probably tinker around with different options et. al., but the '24 will probably outlive me.

Santa Fe NM - probably the hottest move-in market next to Wyoming (sorry Austin) had 3 hybirds on the lot sub 5,000 miles - not a single test drive in a month - all off loaded to another market

in a mere 3 years, the starting price of a Maverick went from $19,975 (HYBRID) to $26,295 with minimal upgrades. And any updates are pretty much fixes for the previous MY. The reason it was so popular was price-point. That is no longer the case and dealers are actually trying to get rid of their current inventory at MSRP or less. so, i would say the enthusiasm is curbed.

In all of 2023 Ford sold 94K Mavericks. During the first six months of 2024 they sold 77K. I would say the excitement is there.

And for what it is worth, we put in our order for the 2025 XLT Hybrid w/FWD this morning to replace the same as what we had with our 2022 XLT Maverick. Don't ask me why but both my wife and I felt like doing it. We'll be trading in our '22 with 20K miles on it currently when the other one comes in, providing we can reach an equitable deal.

Similar for me. I think people who have really wanted AWD hybrid are the people who are going to order right away. And then maybe people interested in Lobo.

Currently, unless you want an XL, you can still order a 24 and get it fairly quickly. (I expect XL will continue to be a constraint in 25 as well.) So it makes sense the demand for the 25 Maverick will mostly be people wanting one of the "new" options.
I bought a 24' FWD Eco and was thinking that an AWD hybrid would be what makes me trade up and sway into the hybrid territory despite some of the issues.

But .... Not for $6K more than I paid. Touch controls counter the benefits of the larger screen and the old girls grill got busted with an ugly stick 😁. I could over look those defects but max I'd consider for the drivetrain update is $4k

I originally wanted AWD hybrid (since I live in a very snowy area), so it was an easy decision for me.
My 22 FWD hybrid w/ good winter tires has been good in the snow over the past 2 winters.....but we got less than 1/2 the usual snowfall over those winters as well..... I think I'd much prefer the AWD (w/ winter tires) in a snowier-than-usual winter!

The XLT LUX AWD hybrid Maverick I ordered has MSRP of $35,880 (including accessories; $34,500 w/out).
The most basic 24 Escape AWD Hybrid has MSRP of $36,535. Ford de-contented the 25 Escapes...so a basic 25 Escape AWD hybrid has MSRP of $35,685. So when I compare it to those, I think the Maverick AWD hybrid has good value.

I do prefer the grill from 22-24 as well. But I do like the larger screen, sync 4, and blue rather than orange accents in the interior.

Guys if we are all being honest the car has become very expensive.

I have a 2024 Maverick XL order for $27,000 going to be delivered in October. I'm not interested in the crazy price hikes for what you get.

Besides the Lariat model for example is a $12,000 difference and I don't want a all wheel drive vehicle. More maintenance and more things to break down.

Mavericks are best when they are simple and affordable.

Agreed, I also would say vehicles in general are better when they are simple and affordable. After all they are a depreciating asset.

I find it interesting how people talk themselves into or justify, spending more than they'd like, especially with vehicles. My bottom line is that I'm casting a vote with the auto industry when I buy. Quite frankly I'd like to press them to the bottom line, especially with the inflation the last few years.

I was super excited what Ford was doing when they released the vehicle. Injecting a budget vehicle with tons of utility into the market (high value). Challenging competitors at the same time, it could have moved the market. However, my enthusiasm has dropped as it's still a good value, but not going to influence the broader market with the newer pricing.
