Huh? There’s talk of dropping the Escape. My wife loves, use her Escape for anything, everything, hauls stuff that needs a truck to haul.

Of course, I have to clean it after she does her dirty deeds!

They also need to stop thinking that this is some kind of entry point to eventually an F150. An F150 is way too big and I will never drive one. I’m guessing there are a lot of Maverick owners in a similar position.

They don’t understand their own market.
Logical assessment. If my $28k Maverick can do what I need it to do, why in the world why would I spend an addition $30K+ for a larger truck the next time? Sixty thousand or more on a truck that isn't utilitarian for most people is a waste IMO.

I think the greatest problem with smaller cars is the EPA, due to its meddling in the form of the CAFE standards. They impose unreasonable MPG requirements on smaller vehicles and are more relaxed on larger ones. Whether or not you buy into the conspiracy theories on corporate lobbying for larger, more profitable vehicles, there is the obvious conclusion on unintended consequences. Gas here in So Cal is approaching $6/gal so IMHO people would still buy smaller cars if they were available.

That looks awesome. Can I have that in a 5 speed manual?
Yes-please -my 2014 Fusion w/6speed manual might wear out one day and then maybe be replaced by this. Ford really dropped the ball by dropping Fusion in the U.S.A.......

Make small vehicles that are so good that people can't help but fall in love with them?

The Maverick is a good start, but it's still bigger than the old '83-'92 Ranger pickups.

Ivory tower wishful thinking. Like I’ve said before, it is NOT Farley or Ford wants us to buy; it is what WE WANT Ford to build. He has it backwards. Bummer for us. Hey, remember my other post called “6 speed manual Maverick?” Yes, please!

The trouble with small cars is that auto makers still want $50,000 for them.

the affordable part was forgotten and I own all small vehicles

Then the manufacturers need to stop producing larger and larger vehicles. How often does a new model grow almost into, if not into, the next class for the next generation?
If they want to talk weight, thank government crash mandates, not size of vehicle. After all, it's often been cited that mandates are responsible for heavier vehicles. Now add unto that this EV push and vehicle weight increases substantially. That added weight of an EV has also been cited in the need for additional increases in crash mandates. Does it not sound like much of what they're doing is chasing their tales?

It's interesting that my first car, a big old Buick with a V8 and a full frame weighed less than most of today's SUV/CUVs.

You have a lot of rounding error in there.
Lighest Y is 1911 kg => 4213 lbs
Lighest Mav is 3563 lbs
so 650 lbs difference
Crazy to think the Maverick weighs only as much as my old 2007 mustang gt.
