I bought the exterior keypad. Thought it’d be a handy item. Bought it from Ford Accessories. Took it to my local dealer, they couldn’t program it. The guy tried for an hour. Parts guy said they’ve had a lot of problems programming them and they were junk.
So, went to another nearby dealer. First trip, the master tech called off and I had to reschedule. The service manager did tell me I’d need both sets of keys to program. All 4 slots were programmed, so they’d have to remove all and reprogram the key fobs and keypad together. Second trip and a half hour later….finally done. Took about 6 hours of my life, but I wasn’t to be deterred.
Anyhoo, I finally installed it inside the fuel door. First I thought I’d install on the door itself, that didn’t work. So, I was able install in the cavity. It fits, barely. May be better to remove the cover from the pad or shave the ends a bit. But, it’s installed.

Installed mine where it is designed to be installed and no problem

Why, just why did Ford have to remove the pillar installed keypad like on my 16' F-150, 19' Explorer and 16' Fusion ?
These have always been my favorite feature on ford vehicles.

Agree. The one on my Bronco Sport was invisible until you touched it. Didn't even know it was on the pillar.

I have the now-discontinued wired keypad and love it in part because it should still work if the radio goes down. Maybe I'm just a Luddite, but I always prefer a hard line over RF and took the time to run Ethernet cables all over my house. I can see a LOT of Wi-Fi routers in my neighborhood all fighting for bandwidth (LOL).
Can someone educate me on the battery used in the wireless keypad? e.g. Does it take a common one like LR44 or CR2023, and how do you change it out?

It’s a sealed unit. So that’s a bummer. You don’t replace the battery. Although, some say it’s possible.

I didn't use mine for a year and a half till one day the doors locked with the truck running and I was outside the vehicle, My dog was in the back seat, my phone on the passenger seat, I couldn't use the ford app, couldn't remember the code I set a year and a half ago, I had a rear window open slightly for the dog and a skinny friend was able to get in after a while. Now I recoded keypad with a number I can't forget and never get out of vehicle while its running without my phone and windows down. Every once in a while I use the keypad to make sure it still works.

Does anyone know what the part number is for the OEM pillar keypad?
You'd have to cut a hole in your door to make it work. It's not a trim piece like other Ford models

Willing to bet all doors have that hole for the keypad whether the vehicle has a keypad or not from the factory.

Nope. Like I said it's not like the F150. They had two separate doors, one for XL and another for XLT and Lariat. Ford saved a ton of money switching to the XL door across trims which is why they got rid of the keypad. There's no trim on your b pillar, it's just vinyl tape.

Will be soon I have the stick on plastic pillar with the cutout and the keypad on its way from fairway Ford.

Ha, no you don't. I have personally seen the trim, it's nothing but a vinyl sticker. They made accessory moldings that went OVER the vinyl trim and had a cutout for the keypad but I would bet my retirement account that when you pull the vinyl off there is no hole. Have fun with your dremel.....see below

Also, see below, this is someone who removed the factory black stick on vinyl, notice the matching paint beneath it, that's the actual door pillar, the XLT and Lariat doors had a hole in them from the factory, the XL doors do not. All Mavericks for 2024 now have the XL door with no hole in it. You're going to be pretty disappointed.

Doubt you have the wiring in the door, I'm sure Ford also streamlined their wiring harness too. Also, I'd look on your ECU by the passenger footwell, if there's no keypad code on it then you're shit out of luck. My dude, I have done more research on this topic than you and I can assure you that you just wasted money

I'll have time to look this weekend, if not. Both parts are refundable for 60 days, so no loss either way, lol.

BCM has a Key code listed on it.
