Installed Keypad Inside Fuel Door (Maverick EcoBoost)

I bought the exterior keypad. Thought it’d be a handy item. Bought it from Ford Accessories. Took it to my local dealer, they couldn’t program it. The guy tried for an hour. Parts guy said they’ve had a lot of problems programming them and they were junk.
So, went to another nearby dealer. First trip, the master tech called off and I had to reschedule. The service manager did tell me I’d need both sets of keys to program. All 4 slots were programmed, so they’d have to remove all and reprogram the key fobs and keypad together. Second trip and a half hour later….finally done. Took about 6 hours of my life, but I wasn’t to be deterred.
Anyhoo, I finally installed it inside the fuel door. First I thought I’d install on the door itself, that didn’t work. So, I was able install in the cavity. It fits, barely. May be better to remove the cover from the pad or shave the ends a bit. But, it’s installed.

Ford dealers are ridiculous. it took me 15 minutes to program the wireless keypad to my Maverick XL. I used FDRS (ford dealership software) and you click one button and follow the instructions and it's programmed in 10-15 minutes.

I ended up attaching mine to the same spot the factory "wired" keypad is at because I had trouble fitting mine in the gas door!

Maybe I'm missing something? But if the truck is locked how do you open the fuel door to unlock the truck with the keypad? I'm sure I'm overlooking something very obvious?

You push on the door and it pops open same as it did before.

EcoBoost vehicles don't have a locking fuel door.

You push on the door and it pops open same as it did before.

Hybrids have locking gas door. Can only open from inside by pushing the button. There is a "hidden" emergency pull tab under rear wheel well, near shock, but that would be a pain to do every time!

This does not work on the XLT Hybrid. One has to unlatch the gas door from inside.

Us hybrid owners have a button to push to release/unlock the fuel door. EcoBoost owners do not.

When I had my EB and was waiting for my hybrid, I thought FoMoCo forgot to include the button...

Why, just why did Ford have to remove the pillar installed keypad like on my 16' F-150, 19' Explorer and 16' Fusion ?

These have always been my favorite feature on ford vehicles.

Doesford sell the OEM pillar version for the maverick? The stick on ones looks cheap and tacky.

they did on early mavericks for the 2022 lariat but this year for the Maverick NO 2024s came with preinstalled wired keypad!

Doesford sell the OEM pillar version for the maverick? The stick on ones looks cheap and tacky.

the wired one that came in early Mavericks looks like this but like I said I think this option for the wired keypad is now gone and the only one you can get is the wireless one.
