Thanks

I am going to do a solution using a relay that defaults to having the UFO speaker active and have a switch under the dash area that will enable the relay to switch in the resistor to disable the UFO speaker.

That way I am in control. I always want the speaker on for backing up.

For state inspections or Ford service it probably a good idea to have the speaker enabled.

My point was how easy it is to install…

This is a product for mature consenting adults only that don’t live in mom’s basement.

If you have to ask why, what does it do, then this product is not for you.

If you live in SoCal, Fl, or any other place that requires vehicle inspections, then this product is not for you.

If you operate your vehicle on the state highways and are afraid of liability, the govt boogie man, insurance companies, the bank, or the manufacturer, this product is not for you.

If you wear an aluminum foil hat and are afraid your vehicle will report your activities, then this product is not for you.

Feel free to put your high beams on, flashers on, and blare the horn when driving 20 miles per hour or less… You do you.

As for me I’ll enjoy the silence!
I do not mine the back up noise, but I would love to get rid of the forward motion whining. MrW2024, remember back in our day cars made exhaust noise and smell so it would alert people that the auto was active.

I put a piece of gorilla tape over the bottom of my speaker, made it quieter. I think I'll put one more piece on when I do my first oil change too.
Stupid thing is too loud without it.
This way there are no real modes that could possibly hurt the module.
And by the way it sounds like a dump truck when backing and an old lawn mower going forward. Not a UFO

Wow, THANKS for doing my homework for me! You da man! I think I will install a SPDT relay to switch in the resistor as needed, and power it thru a single 12V wire from a "Stealth Mode" switch in the cab.

The easiest thing to do do is put a wad of butyl rubber sealant tape over speaker and remove if needed !
What about ev conversions ?
No sounds .
What about electric scooters and bikes ?
No sounds !
Kit cars ?
No sound requirements !
Lawyers and litigous people are the ones who need mufflers !
Work for it and be responsible for your own actions ( like not looking before walking )!
It’s like we have to live in fear!
I sure loved growing up with Cold War fear and nuke drills a lot more than a lawsuit on the daily and offending someone’s feelings!
😢 sad.

Yeah, I even went to the "MegaOhm" website and I still don't know what the hell it does or what they do!
It says in the description, " This kit will allow you to bypass your Ford Hybrid's External Speaker without dash errors and enjoy that peace and quiet. ."

Also says this lower down, "This is an off-road only product. MegaOhm Motorsports accepts no liability for loss or damage to people or property or consequential damages. "

I don’t understand why this is mandated
Most gas vehicles nowadays are extremely quiet
I for one hate it when my neighbors are cruising down the street in electric mode making all kinds of weird sounds
I thought the point of electric mode was to be quiet, not louder than gas cars

Also people need to be responsible for themselves a bit more

Yeah I want something like that but I'm too lazy- the neighbors don't need to hear the reverse beep at 5am in the driveway, but I'd want it to default to "sound on" the rest of the time (like auto headlamps)...

I don't understand why people do this. That is what the mirrors are for. In addition, there is the backup camera. Why would a person need to look over their shoulder when backing up?
Backup camera gives you zero situational awareness.

They are useful as a tool to see at and below your bed as you back up but do not tell you what is going on around you.

How can you say the camera gives zero situational awareness and then state that it allows you to see directly behind the vehicle? Isn't that a prime example of situational awareness?

WOW! 🤩 Thanks for taking the time to post that info. I see my ancient Mouser account is still alive! (LOL) I'm impressed: You have uncommon insight into the arcane world of automotive connectors. Perhaps you can share your intelligence sources and methods to enlighten and empower lower proles like myself. 🙏
I see the "Pedestrian alert audible warning speaker, front" in the Maverick Wiring Diagrams. The wires at this location are circuit VRA01 (GY-YE) and VRA02 (VT-WH), which pass thru several connectors before terminating at the speaker in connector C1945. There is a "causal" number of 14B446 shown, which I'm guessing is the part number for that wiring harness. It seems (another guess) that the term "causal" is used so warranty claims involving the wiring harness will include a trackable ID. Ford says that the connector P/N is N/A. So... is there some magic way to determine a Molex P/N for any given harness connector?

Here's a bit of additional info for you.
The Pedestrian Alert Control Module (PACM) is real close to the battery, and covers need to be removed to access it. Not sure what's easier: bypass resistor at the speaker or accessing this module for a switch or relay ON/OFF-with-bypass operation. If the speaker is not found by the PACM, the PACM tattles on you via the CAN bus and sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code, so if you turn it off with a switch or relay, a resistor needs to be substituted into the circuit to keep the nannies happy.
