I have posted about this exact issue a few times where the light assembly just doesn't illuminate and then if you manually switch the lights off then back to auto, they come back on. but during the time when one whole rear light assembly isn't illuminated, the turn and brake signals still work as intended. It sounds like this will be a fix to that! Fingers crossed!!
Well well well......same here. Many people were like "it is because you have aftermarket LEDs". Riiiiiiight.

If I did this right the link I am about to paste should take you to my post of 2 videos on the driver and passenger side doing (what i understand the recall to be indicating). that the lights still work when brake/turn signal, but do not stay illuminated. Turning off then back on the vehicle "fixes" it, or manually turning off the lights and back on again (with the switch) while vehicle is on, "fixes" it.

I also have a lariat in which you can see the red accent light around the assembly also does not light up at the same time. Which to me meant something else going on vs just bulbs.*

Was he using the remote start in the day? Tail lights only come on at night (auto feature), or if you manually turn on the headlights ;)
It was night time and they werent coming on. I'm going to have to go test but im pretty sure mine come on whether its day or night.

unbelievable.

11 recalls on the 22
7 recalls on the 23
4 recalls on the 24.

Guess its trending down but dont worry, refresh in 25 will bring new bugs and things will reset back at 11 or more :)

edit: 7 of these recalls at least on the 22's are for FMVSS regulatory items !
3 recalls so far on my 23, 2 have been updated. 1 to go, with this possibly being the 4th.

Yep. Pretty much what mine was doing. Hard to tell how often it happens since you are usually driving....have to rely on someone to flag you down or give you the middle finger or whatever.

Oh I know they all have problems and Toyota does as much as anybody but even over the last few years I think if you look at any kind of quality survey like JD and power etc, they still fare a lot better than Ford or other domestics. And a lot of other foreign brands. And I'm not a Toyota fan. The only one I ever owned was an old pickup truck back when I was 21
I just see this one vehicle from Ford that I'm interested in and it looks like there's a dozen recalls on them basically and 3 years into production. They're still having a lot of them
I haven't had either issue that the two software update recalls on my '23 Maverick XL Hybrid were supposed to address.

Go to any auto forum and you will see complaints about defective vehicles and recalls. All sorts of makes and models. You take a chance when you buy any vehicle, new or used. At least with new, you have the manufacturer looking for bugs and issuing solutions. And people that do have problems are some of the most vocal posters on automobile forums.

If you're scared to buy a Maverick, don't buy one.

Yeah I get it and I don't think the right word is scared. It's more like hesitant. Scared would be more like if you're afraid of something or somebody. I just don't want to buy a sled. I also realize that other vehicles have issues, although in the 8 years I've had my VW, and they're not really known for dependability these days, I've only had one recall and it was for a leaking sunroof. It just seems like Ford seems to be having a lot of them with this particular vehicle and for some reason a difficult time actually fixing them

So you're saying you don't want to spend your whole weekend trying to tune the carbs and get them in sync?

Kind of funny, because just this morning I saw an article in my news feed where the Ford CEO was pleased that recalls have slowed 10%. Ford has tied bonuses to quality. Knowing organizations like I do, I suspect that will just add an incentive to sweep quality problems under the rug (perverse incentive).

Tesla has already done this, and some of the automakers are slowly following. This Autoline After Hours goes deep into the subject. As an old software engineer, I loved this episode.

I ain't getting nothing TOUCHED by my local dealer until I read that Ford has fixed the issue with trucks going into limp mode after this supposed fix. No way, no how. Nope. I'll wait it out. My only vehicle and a crappy local service department, I can't afford to have it bricked.
100%!!! I'm watching truck after truck end up in the shop after these updates in the facebook groups I belong to. I'm not taking the chance of breaking down on the side of the road for a faulty light recall.
