Nuts. Totally nuts.

I was going to start a new stream, but here is good enough. Last weekend, a 200-ton set of salvage claws was delivered to Baltimore, to remove the biggest wreckage of the demolished Francis Scott Key Bridge. I understand that the rig was delivered on a slightly modified Maverick.Nuts. Totally nuts.
I don't get rock crawling at all. (EDIT) in fact, I had 2 free invites to the Bronco Off-Roadeo and I didn't use them. Entry is free, but travel and time off isn't. And I'm definitely not getting into crawling.Nuts. Totally nuts.
I bet at least 5k hit his amex that weekend. Could easily have doubled that.I wonder what that adventure cost the Gladiator owner; service call + repairs?
I don't think a Maverick would make it down that hole much less back out!Nuts. Totally nuts.
Mudding is best, and in mudding, i used to get annoyed by the side by sides and atvs and dirtbikes because they usually cost twice as much as my jeeps and every rich punk in town crowded up the hills and hollers with em. But for hardcore offroading I only use old vehicles. Sure some top of the line stuff is good offroad and comfortable. But really it takes a lot more skill and brings alot more smiles when you coax a frankenstein you created from 3 different vehicles down a trail.I don't get rock crawling at all. I started on dirtbikes at age 5, a Yamaha Y-Zinger 50cc with a centrifugal clutch single speed. I've ridden motocross, a lot of single and 2-track enduro, and for the past 15 years been an avid MTBer. I have ridden up and down gnarly singletrack. My MTB is relatively expensive, but the cost per hour of use is minuscule compared to my last dirtbike.
I can't fathom the interest in crawling, or how anyone can justify the cost because things eventually break. Roll a vehicle and if you don't have specialty off-road insurance, you're probably repairing or replacing it on your own dime.
What's even more interesting to me about crawling is that Jeepers - anyone in a passenger vehicle, really - hate side-by-sides and buggies. A good sxs setup for crawling isn't cheap, but it's cheaper than that heavily modified Gladiator, and no one is depending on the sxs to get to work on Monday. Still dumb.
Baja desert running, sand dunes, mudding, I get that. High chance of getting stuck in the mud, but low chance of totaling your rig.
You need a minimum of 35 inch tires to even go on that trail. That being said, I guarantee I could make it down... Probably not in once piece thoughI don't think a Maverick would make it down that hole much less back out!
huh? maybe I missed something, because I skimmed the video, but what I saw was a ball joint failure as the first issue and everything after is because the wheel came off when the ball joint failed.I'm surprised at the lack of comments on the broken control arm. The stress on it did not seem inordinate, especially since there was so little weight.
Not even my Tremor would make it.I don't think a Maverick would make it down that hole much less back out!
