So my hybrid has gone completely dark 3 times in a week. The dealer said that the 12v battery checked out good. However, the truck comes back to life when I hook up my jumper battery. The dealer has ordered a new 12v battery cable overlay per CSP 22B39 which should be in next week. If jumping it results in it starting, I don’t understand why the battery would test OK. Anyone else experiencing this issue? I’m about ready to go to Autozone and replace the battery.

Could be the harness is bad per the CSP and
the 12v battery cannot charge like it's supposed to.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

I had the truck go dead yesterday. It's the second time, but it's been 6 months since the first. Both times were with short interval drives and the blinkers going for 30 to 60 minutes for a few of the stops. Sort of seems like using the blinkers (with a trailer hooked up) might be contributing to the battery dying. I'm a little bummed this is an issue still... Good thing I had the portable jumper though!

ECM/PCM Power Relay De-Energized - Too Early

Sets when the non volatile random access memory write did not complete successfully after the ignition key was turned OFF, prior to PCM shutdown. This DTC also sets when the PCM power relay is de-energized too early.

My take:

A bad 12v battery or 12v battery connection could be responsible. Using a jumper could be a work around if you went under the hood, or you could have wiggled an intermittent connection if you went under the seat.

Yes, you have the harness issue and your service department is on the right track for successful resolution. Be thankful for them.

60 minutes x at least 8 blinker lamps (2 front, 4 tail, 2 trailer) x 12W x 50% duty cycle = 2.88KWH (call it 3.5KWH including the battery minder, the computer and probably a few other things that you left on) for each stop. And that assumes that your trailer lights are only 12W and not the older-style 21W or 50W. That's a lot for you to expect out of a little battery. Maybe swap out the bulbs for LEDs to get to 1/10th of the battery usage, or get a much bigger battery.

So it just went dead again. My voltage meter showed 11 volts. I’m hoping Ford will also replace the battery. In any event, I probably need to wait to replace it until the cable/harness is replaced.

My dealer put in a new battery. Looks like a Heavy Duty Battery that was installed. Originally battery was showing some failures from some report they pulled on my truck diagnostics.
