Took a look at the floodfordesp.com site. No joy for folks in Florida. Apparently there is a law against out of state insurance. Bummer.

I'm thinking about getting an extended warranty for my 22 XL. What is the consensus on which plan to get: Basic, Extra Care , or Premium?
Like the others, I did Premium as well as putting that coverage on my wifes Escape

Granger is offering ESP at DEALER COST thru the end of this month (tomorrow). If interested in financing, they're also offering 18 months at ZERO% INTEREST, with 20% down & a 5.6% fee.

What if you have the 3 year premium /75,000 plan right now. Is it possible to upgrade that to an 8 year premium plan?

My understanding is you can revise your current plan as long as your vehicle is still under the manufacturer warranty. Don’t know if they will give the dealer cost in that situation. Give Granger a call. They have actual people who answer the phone instead of menu options.

Myself I don't believe in warranty's, you can put the same funds away for a rainy day if you want which is usually way after the factory warranty's expire. If you need warranty work trade it in, the dealer will be happy to absorb it and sell you a new vehicle. I traded in an Escape with a hit and run front fender on my Maverick and the dealer didn't even blink. They fix everything at cost. Over the years I bought a lot of vehicles using knowledge from an older car salesman that showed me the ropes.
Agreed, everyone should do the math and weigh against their comfort zone.

Example, if you're considering a 10 year extended warranty that costs $3000, and you're paying up front, you should also consider that same $3k invested for 10 years. An average 8% annual return would net you ~$6700 if you didn't need to use it. Sure, it's possible the $3k warranty investment could pay back (in repair value) more than the $3.7k market return, but I'd also argue the odds are against you.

Again, everyone's personal choice, but the statistics probably prove out that the extended warranties are likely not the best use of your money. I say probably because I don't know of any of the OEM's that publish their extended warranty balance sheets. But the very fact they continue to push & sell them is rather telling.

I got the 10yr/75k plan with a $200 deductible for about $1400 all in with tax at delivery. I only drive the Mav about 5k to 6k a year so this fit nicely and was very cost effective for me.

I'm sure "mcc63303" can clarify this (perhaps it's changed?), but PremiumCare is an "exclusionary" product, as where the other two offer "stated items" coverage. The difference? Exclusionary means you get a list of what's NOT covered; if it's not on the list and it fails, they have to replace it. Stated Items means you get a list of what's covered, and that's it.

Now, let's say you get the Stated Items coverage and it says your power window motor is covered, but nowhere does it mention the window regulator. The regulator gets hung-up, causing the motor to burn out. I can assure you that somewhere in the contract, it will say that "failure caused by a non-covered part" is not a covered repair. Which means you get to pay for a new window motor, along with the regulator and all other necessary parts.

Bottom line? Be sure you know what you're signing.

I honestly don't think these huge corporations REALLY know what stuff costs to repair these days, or a part's true longevity. Case in point: the headlights. I saw somewhere in these forums that you can't replace the headlight bulb, you have to replace the entire headlight unit. And that's like... $1,000? I doubt the bean counters are aware that the bulbs are not replaceable and/or have been told that LEDs "last forever." Maybe they do, but the sockets, wiring and housings don't.

Thats a tough call much of which depends on finances...

I got the premium care noting that there is quite of bit of technology in vehicles these days. The coverages for electrical and "High Tech" are better under premium and I thought worth the cost.

Here is a link to Flood Ford's information on those plans which, IMHO, makes it much easier to compare plans and costs.

Mind me asking a ballpark of how much you're premo care cost? I got quoted $2,790 for a 100K warranty on a 2021 F150 powerboost(a deal I backed out of), I'm hoping the maverick coverage for me new 2024 xlt lux package (taking delivery in Spring) would be somewhere in the 2000 range...

You'd be surprised at the level of accountability for every penny of cost an OEM endures, particularly as it relates to warranty. They know EXACTLY what they're doing when they set up cost/structures of these extended warranties, and it is not to the financial benefit of most customers. They are for-profit corporations, and this is another revenue stream for them.

Anyone read the Ford ESP or Protect plan fine print? When I had my ESP for my Ford F250, plan says takes effect as soon “paid”, and that while the current vehicle 3/36 factory warranty in effect. So in Essence maybe losing some mileage, time on the Protect plan. I waited till my truck got close to its mileage and/or time limits. Then ordered the Ford ESP, as it was called then.

But don’t take my word for it, times have changed, one should investigate the policy in the plan. And decide.

One comment I offer…couple times had issues with the truck, on the road, and nearby Ford dealer did repairs, for the $100 deductible on the plan. That was sweet.

I was just quoted from Granger 6 yr/100k for $1080, includes Key Services and Interior/Exterior Lighting add-ons.
