You can think of the extended warranty as an insurance policy. Insurance companies do not offer policies to lose $$. So with that in mind, Ford is expecting to make some $$ off of these policies and believe that their vehicles are worth the risk taken when offering these different policies. I have never been the one to take out extended warranties on anything, and believe I have come out ahead over time. But it's always a roll the dice adventure. I hope I'm right about not pursuing the extended warranty on my Mav, just like I haven't done so on previous vehicles. Only time will tell. I do understand however, that it does give other folks a peace of mind by purchasing these extended warranties.

Agreed though the cost for th 10 yr 60k is acceptable to me as we plan on keeping the truck at least 10 years though it won’t see a lot of miles. It’s a gamble but with the costs of some of the parts these days I think it might be worth it. Pay now and you’re covered even if parts prices and labor keep going up year after year.

I bought an ESP premium plan from Flood Ford in Rhode Island for my '19 F150. They were priced similar to Granger. I got a refund from them with no hassles for the unused portion when I traded it.

I have received a number mailings from Ford encouraging me to consider their Ford Protect extended service plan. My 23 Mav is only 1.5 years old with 14K miles. I am wondering if this makes sense to purchase. I know there are folks out there with a lot of miles on their buggy and was wondering what kind of maintenance issue's are you having outside the basic warranty. Ford is trying to scare me with the cost of repairs.
I oversaw a similar plan for a competitive OEM. Here are some data points:

- First, these are not warranties; they are prepaid service plans.
- Subscribers usually only utilize about 40% of the plan benefit; you are essentially purchasing peace of mind, much like when you purchase insurance.
- Typically, the dealer has a 90-day window in which to sell the customer exclusively.
- When the dealer sells the plan, the OEM makes roughly a 40% profit.
- After the 90-day period, the OEM begins selling the customer on the plan.
- When the OEM sells the plan, profit to the OEM is roughly 60%.
- It's worth doing the math to determine, based on the vehicle service history and reliability, whether it makes sense to purchase a plan.
- In many instances, it's cheaper to pay for services as needed.

Hope this helps.

You made the right choice. I agree on average extended warranties are a loss. But Mavericks are cheaper vehicles made in Mexico. If you are getting a good deal I think it is worth the extended warranty price. We all know the CV axles are going to go and your warranty will cover it and pay for itself.

I bought the entire two(2) coverage warranties: breakdown and maintenance where everything bumper to bumper is covered including tires, etc. 10/100,000. No deductables. They include loaners as needed. They are Ford's, and I figured it out to be less than $29/month. I got a discount for paying for them at point of sale, they are cancellable with prorated refund, and transferable to another vehicle.
I feel that is quite reasonable, if one can afford it. Only time and circumstances will tell.

Maverick CV axles are Ford's version of Porsche's IMS bearings.
