I soured a bit on EV's when I heard that people could not get then going in the real cold weather. One poor guy came came back from a trip, couldn't get it going at the airport and had to call a flatbed to carry it to a charging station. I guess that falls into the con category.
What did he do when he got to charging station? Was it too cold to plug it in?

Several months back, Toyota stated that full electric vehicles were still further out in the future. They said for every 1 electrical car, they could build 20 hybrids for the same cost and keep the cost of consumers owning them down. Toyota was laughed at. Who's laughing now?
Hhhuuummmmmm! $60,000 EV /20= $3k = I want 4 of those Hybrids.

I’ll make my case again for a PHEV Maverick. My RAV4 Prime is getting over 100 mpg (only reads to 100) because it will travel 46 to 48 miles on one charge with a 18.1 KWHr battery (it tells me that I am getting 3.0 to 3.1 miles per KWHr)

I want a Maverick to come with PHEV capability. To me, that is the practical approach. The electric infrastructure is going to have to be substantially enlarged before we should be “forced” to electric cars.

The systems that generate electricity that are built into the car are great and use energy that normally would go off into our environment into motive power.

Nuff said
THIS!!!! 1000%

Pickups are all about payload! If an EV pickup had reasonable power and range, how much would the batteries weigh?
Payload capacity doesn't make any difference to me. I simply like the styling of a pickup. Owned a 1986 Mazda B2000 for 17 years, a 2004 Ranger for 11 and now the Maverick. The number of times I had any sort of significant payload is probably fewer than a couple dozen.

It kind of reminds me of the great diesel rush of the early 2000’s , by 2010 everyone had to have a f350 to tow a 5k boat 3 times a year to the river and look cool while paying 1300 for registration and now $6.00 a gallon for low sulfur diesel and add def fluid and smog that diesel truck every other year and pay for 150$ oil changes and $5000 injector changes every 90k miles and regen issues and oil cooler issues and and and and you would have to tow daily for the first 220k miles just to break even for the $12k markup to buy the diesel engine and trans. Over a similar 460/v10/or now 7.3 gas engine.
Like planes you need to figure out your mission before jumping on the bandwagon .
Electric works for commuters in the suburbs that have homes with solar!
Not for city dwellers in apartments with street parking that do multi county daily traveling .
Someday people will figure this out . I did back in 1999 when I bought a 460 gas truck for my towing needs. I use it 3k miles a year ,cheaper AND more efficiently than any diesel . And at $4.39 gallon for 87 octane still works better than $5.90/$6.00 gallon diesel for my 3k miles a year.
Nowadays $94k for an f350 crew 4x4 diesel.add in def and maintenance , better be doing interstate vehicle trucking daily for 5 years just to pay the payment and maintanence.
Ev ‘ have a purpose and mission they fill at certain price points , maybe it works for you maybe it won’t .its just amazing how much energy is put into the never ending argument .
I could have charged one by now !
lol!

Valid points on one hand, on the other, if I'm not driving a lifted f-450 dually to the office everyday how will people know that I'm a real man?

Customers will not wait for Ford. Other automakers may offer electrification on affordable small truck sooner. Toyota, Kia/Hyundai, VW etc.
Finally rumors are rumors so this unconfirmed news may just be some clickbait, and we will get on the contrary a Mav phev in 2025 that I would buy.

I just expecting to see the domestic mfg's ev implosion when BYD starts bringing their cheap china ev's in via mexico. I imagine the $ is flowing hard trying to keep that from happening. Guess we'll see if its like re-living the early 1970's again. Gotta give BYD a little credit though on styling (comparing front end design to like the usual flat stubby noses of like telsa, mustang-e, etc to BYD) https://www.byd.com/us

Going to disagree on that. Nobody needs a Mav EV for $50k. They do want them for $25k though.

Well unfortunately that's never going to happen - you can barely get an xl hybrid for $25K, the overhead for an EV will be well beyond 25K. I'd want a $25k 'vette but sometimes reality just kicks in and the dream is over.

A Maverick PHEV would not be as expensive and could potentially be built for nearly the same $$$ as the hybrid.
What are you smoking

A PHEV Maverick would add at least $3,000 to the cost over the current Hybrid.

Do you believe that the second or higher power HV battery would cost nothing.

How about the charging electronics do you think that costs nothing.

I really roll my eyes at the belief that a PHEV won't cost more than a Hybrid.

The problem is those days are over !
There is never going to be a $10k Toyota,$15k Nissan or $17k Ford again .
Litigious Fools , lawyers and insurance companies killed that .
We gotta suck it up , and work harder to pay more now . Technology profits corporate world easier , so we pay for the Nannie’s and foo foo functions to”BETTER OUR LIVES” .
All I wanted was power windows , locks and a/c..I don’t need tpms , acas, electric steering assist ,lane centering cruise control, 6 or 8 airbags , touch screen with apps , led headlights , a series of driving modes , a commercial on the dashboard every time I start my entry level truck!
Too much foo foo !
Keep it simple!
My rant!
Loli!( love it or leave it!
