Not even a BATTERY condition sensor?
It would be very minimal but there could be something drawn from the battery positive that would not be seen, if the ground of the battery sensor was connected between Ford's BMS and the battery post. Whether or not the misreading would matter. For the most accurate Ford's reading needs for it the have contacts inside of all other users.

I'll add that running your car to warm it up in the winter is based on exactly nothing.
My a$$ would disagree1 Its been below zero every morning for the last few where I live. Remote starting the Mav turns on the heated seat and steering wheel. Much more welcoming when you get in to head out at those temps.

I wondered if using a trickle charger might cause future issues by messing up the BMS data points. It appears by using a different grounding point other than the negative pin provided for jump starts bypasses the BMS. At least this is how I interpret this warning! I am still waiting for my truck so I do not have real world experience yet.

Basically all it comes down to is you need to connect before the sensor on the battery ground terminal. So:

Ford Maverick Fourteen Below Zero Fahrenheit No Go Maverick Hybrid this Morning 1705670999207

...or the other end of the battery ground cable where it's bolted to the body at the side of the battery.

You switch on a Hybrid Maverick. There is no way to start the engine, it decides that.
I noticed when engine is on

When engine is on while in park I noticed you can't rev the engine. I could hear and feel the gas peddle move but the engine did not speed up. Must be electronic throttle and not rev untill put in gear. Did not try putting it in neutral.

The throttle is "Fly by Wire" (electronic). My understanding is the ICE (Gas Engine) usually runs a fairly constant RPM and the wheel speed is varied by changing the RPM of MG1 (Motor Generator 1 - via the sun and planetary gears), when the ICE is running. MG2 can be assisting acceleration and propulsion, when it's not being used for regenerative braking (generator mode).

Truck was parked in the garage last night - not heated but certainly not as cold as outside, let's say it was probably just above zero in the garage this morning. '23 XLT Hybrid (no Co Pilot) started fine and I drove up town, about a 10 minute drive. Thermometer on the dash said -14F. Parked the truck for about 45 minutes.

Got back in the truck, turned on the key to start/run. I got some red alert I'd never seen about pedestrian warning. In hindsight I should have taken a picture of the dash. It appeared the truck was on - said it was in electric driving mode. However.......truck would not shift out of Park. Foot on the brake and nothing.

I tried off and on several times, opening the door, lock/unlock and the result was the same.

After about 10 minutes I repeated the process, something clicked, the gas engine came on, and I could shift out of park and drive. A "check engine" light came on and I got a Service Engine Soon warning on my FordPass that says "the engine system has detected a fault".

I tried toggling through the dash settings to see if it would tell me anything but did not find a menu or area than told me any information.

I tried searching the forum when I got home but didn't find anyone who reported a situation like this. I'm guessing is has something to do with the brutal cold but who knows.

Has anyone else had a similar situation?
Yes. See my post.

I had an almost identical event. See my post of Jan 15. Whent to dealer & service manager guesses " low battery". I'm not satisfied with that answer. Rock

Rock - I was at the dealer yesterday. I basically got a similar answer - the battery/electrical system in the hybrid is "weak". Because it was so cold the battery didn't make enough electricity to start, so it threw all the error codes. They checked my 12V battery and said it tested fine yesterday in their 70 degree shop. "Try not to drive it when it's so cold" isn't a great answer I was happy with either!

RZ Lee, If possible, go to another dealer. This dealer does not want to help you!

RZ Lee,
Thanks for the confirmation of Ford dealer "lack of proper analysis". My Ford service dealer has nice enough people but they don't know all the hidden electronics of our hybrids.
Good luck with yours.
