I sent an oil sample to Blackstone Labs after my last oil change at 98K miles and here is the result. I have done a total of 11 oil changes since day 1 using Mobil 1 oil and OEM filter. Good Report they say so that's awesome. I think my Mav was made on a Wednesday. :giggle:

Always good to see reports like this. Not that I would expect any real issues since I've been in the 'auto industry' myself many years. What is surprising though is how people mange to put so many miles on in such short time!

Thanks for posting this. Are you changing oil/filter based on the Oil Life monitor or are you determining your changes by total odometer mileage?
My personal OCI is around 10k miles. I wish the truck tells me how much of that is ICE and electric but my XLT does not. When I change oil, monitor still shows above 20%

Sweet report. Had to post just because of your profile picture.
That's Boboy.

Did you wait 10k on your first change?

That would be nice. But unfortunately, it does not. However, the amount of the driving that is ICE, is one of several factors taken into consideration by the Oil Life Monitor.

The first two oil changes were at 5k and 11k. Then around every 10k after that. Please don't ask why I picked those numbers because I don't have an answer. 🤷‍♂️

Just curious. Considering that the ICE in a hybrid typically runs at most 3/4 the time I like your intervals. Thanks for posting your results.

Always great to hear positive news! I have an 2022 XLT hybrid 20k miles and have had NO mechanical or electrical issues. Just enjoying my first model truck hybrid. Thanks for the news

Wow my 2023 I bought in Sept has 470 miles. Total.

That's a lot of driving!!

OP, any things you've learned over the first 100k? Rattles, common failure over time, things you would do different, preventative maintenance that you'd recommend etc?

I will be driving my Mav more in the coming year so just wondering things I could do to stave off any long term issues.

I had to think about this. Actually, the only thing I'm doing somewhat consistently is the oil change. I've replaced air filters once and will be found it again this week. I've done a transmission drain and fill once and plan on doing it again around 120k mark. I've rotated my original tires three times. They're getting replaced soon. That's all I've done maintenance wise and I don't plan to do anymore than that. Some will probably say I'm not doing enough, esp if you look at what is listed on the scheduled maintenance.

My Mav is making this noise every now and then that is described on this thread.

I'm still not sure if I should take it to the dealer.

I also had a very slight oil leak described here.
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/hybrid-oil-leak-at-67k-miles-update.32268/
Turned out to be from the transmission cooling lines. It wasn't covered under the warranty. Had I known it wouldn't be covered, I wouldn't have bothered getting it fixed. It would have saved me $500+. And, it still leaks.

At the rate you're driving, your Mav should last a long time.

Nice looking report. A few questions:

1) Approximately what percentage of your driving is highway driving?

2) What kind of miles/gallon have you been averaging in both summer and winter?

3) There are a number of varieties of Mobil 1 0W20 offered. Which one was used for this report? A) Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy B) Mobil 1 Extended Protection C) Mobil 1 Truck & SUV or D) something else? Also, have you been using the same motor oil the entire 98,000 miles?

Full disclosure, I traded in a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid with the same 2.5L engine. I ran it to almost 210,000 miles and the engine showed no signs of fatigue when I sold it. I used Motorcraft Full Synthetic for the first 100,000 and Mobil 1 0W20 EP (choice B) for the duration.

With regular maintenance, that engine is “Bulletproof.” You really have to do something stupid to break it.

Solid writeup. The trans cooler o-rings leaking, I'm surprised it wasn't able to be fixed. Maybe it's something deeper? Normally you replace o-rings and presto problem solved.

Looks like the knocking might be the engine/transmission damper? Looks like motor and transmission have to come out for that.

Yeah I should be OK, plus I bought the 10 year/100k warranty. I do plan to keep for at least that long and by that time many users will have data on repeat issues and common failures so I can make my decision to keep from there.

I also need to drive it more just to shake it down and get to the point where if problems would show up, they could be fixed.
