Here’s my report from my oil change of factory oil just under 1000 miles. Should dispel some information about metals and other contaminants in the oil during break in.
Someone mentioned that the filter catches it, as shown from my report there are metals that get by.
Thought this might be of general interest.

I changed my oil at 900 too. The metal that showed up in mine, like yours, is too small to be filtered out. Also too small to really do any serious damage to the engine - but good to flush it out anyway.

I don’t think our OLM’s account for the break in period? Probably best to rely solely on the OLM only after that first “early” oil change or two…

Definitely don’t think they would do damage and after a couple oil changes I’m sure the values would fall.
I’ve been in to motorcycles since I was a kid and every brand new bike I’ve ever bought requires a break in oil change.
So I do it with my cars too even though it doesn’t seem really necessary but definitely doesn’t hurt.

Haven't seen any 2.0 EcoBoost wear out early as far as anything related to lubrication in any applications. So these Maverick engines are just plain reliable even if maintained just at Ford intervals
Yes, the early 2.0 “EcoBoom” engines failed due to coolant intrusion - not engine lubrication. The Maverick’s EB was introduced after the fixes were made.

As the current 2.0 EB’s start hitting 5 to 10 year mileage numbers - will there be turbo issues due to using the “Ford intervals” for oil changing? Time will tell, the jury is still out, but I’m not holding my breath:)

So I will exhale & change my oil at 3000 miles like Blackstone told me. Although it will be more like 8 months (~1500 miles) due to my driving habits;)

Very few turbo issues in 2.0 EcoBoost engines unless the Ford intervals were exceeded or if there was a history coolant intrusion. Following Ford's recommended intervals or using the smart oil life monitor does not seem to result in either engine or turbo issues. People never admit to ignoring their owners manual recommendations

I do try to follow Ford’s interval on my severe use Ecoboost. They recommend 6 months & using full synthetic Motorcraft or equivalent.

I went 7 months on my latest change - mainly because I imagined dilution. Oil sample result showed no dilution and the additives were still robust. May wait a bit longer on my next change, but I actually enjoy the DIY change & inspection 🧐

Thanks for your insights as always!
