You’re either a troll, or you are the service manager at the dealership that worked on my truck last.

I’ll never understand why people like you and some service managers try to minimize what happens to others when it comes to problems with their cars… I mean, do you think we actually like going to a dealership to plead our case that something is actually wrong? Like as a hobby or something? Uhhh, no. There is something wrong. Fix the damn thing. I got better things to do.

Btw, congrats for accomplishing your goal of getting a reaction out of someone. Now go crawl back under your rock. Merry Christmas.

That's what I thought.
If just the sound file without the narrative I would have thought engine trouble. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I had the same loud sound from the speakers, really scary. Happened within 6 month after I bought my 22 hybrid, but could stop it by shutting everything down. Horrendous sound like an alien dying. But have put over 8000 miles on it now, with no issues like it. Have had all recalls done that could be done to date. But now I am concerned about the smoke thing. Thanks for the info from the original poster, since I have actually forgot about it.

I had a crazy and awful experience with my Maverick Lariat Hybrid today. At one point smoke started filling the cabin.
I left work early this afternoon to finish up some last minute Christmas shopping. When I started the truck there was a very loud ear piercing crackle that came out of the speakers. It was quick but so lout that it startled me. Then I noticed there was no sound coming from the radio. I tried turning the radio off and back on and then performed the soft reset and still no sound. At that point I figured I have a lot to do the next few days so I'll have to make an appointment at the dealership for next week. I had no idea what I was in for just a few minutes later.

I then merged onto the highway and right at that time all four speakers started blaring a jackhammer like sound at an unbelievably high decibel. It literally was painful to my ears. I've been to a lot of rock concerts and this was worse. It wouldn't stop. I put a video below of the sound. I pulled over on the shoulder and turned the truck off and it still didn't stop. So I opened the driver door to get the radio to turn off completely and although the radio screen went blank the sound was still happening at a deafening level.

The local dealership was probably roughly 7 miles from where I was and it was right off one of the highway exits so I decided to drive straight to the dealership The sound was so bad that I was trying to steer with my knee so I could hold my fingers over my ears. I got off the highway exit for the dealership and as I was doing that I started to smell a strong smell of smoke. It smelled like something electronic was burning. I guess over heating is a better way to describe the smell. I would say imagine if a TV or DVD player started severely over heating. Some light smoke started filling the cabin and this point I was less than a minute from the dealership so sped there. I parked the truck and ran inside and asked for a tech to come right out because the truck might catch on fire. One guy ran out and yelled "It's a Hybrid and I'm not trained on how to safely work on them". He then ran to get someone else who popped the hood and unplugged something. I was standing off to the side so I'm not sure what he unplugged but it finally stopped.

Both of the techs were bewildered and said they had never seen anything like that themselves. One of them thought it might be a stuck module but he wasn't sure. I obviously had to leave them the truck and now I have no idea when they'll get to it. I'm definitely worried about what kind of damage has been done. I wonder if the speakers are even damaged at this point.

I took the video when I pulled over on the highway to turn the truck off. I wanted to have something to show the dealership in case it stopped doing that before I got there. Keep in mind the sound in the video below does not even do justice to how loud the sound actually was. I was seriously worried about hearing damage after a few minutes of it doing that.

Trading mine in next week....Do not trust the vehicle ...Goin back to honda....

Does anyone know if the Lariat model has active noise cancelation in the cabin. It kind of sounds to me like ANC went on the fritz and blew up the radio? -- Think of amp feedback loop and it's like that.
There's no active noise canceling.

He's just another troll and coward who makes a crazy statement and then disappears. Fanboys like him can be amusing.

Sorry for the lack of updates. The past 5 days have been so hectic with the holidays and trying to do everything with one car. Plus I don't really have any update from the dealership yet.

I did finally get a loaner vehicle from them late yesterday. I started calling the service department yesterday morning and kept being told they were still trying to get me a loaner and someone would call me back. Finally at about 4:00 PM I had my Mother in Law drive me to the dealership so I could talk to them in person. Not sure if it was coincidence or my presence there but all of a sudden they had a loaner vehicle for me. I was pleasant with them and even told them I appreciated them finding me a loaner.

While I was there they said they were still waiting for the replacement rear speakers which they expect to be delivered on Thursday or Friday. Then they have to install them at some point depending on when they have a technician available and then test the system again. So we'll see what happens when they around to doing all of that.

Well I got the truck back from dealership last night. Basically they claim there was an internal failure with the rear speakers and they replaced them. I'm not confident that was the main issue but for now all I can do is hope they have it right and we'll see what happens. I scanned the invoice and attached it so everyone can see exactly what was done.

Well, you got your truck back at least. Hopefully it really was that simple but like you, I am very skeptical.

I'll be sure to update if anything happens. I guess it's possible this will fix the issue and I can only be hopeful at this point.
