8 hours to drive 63 miles? That has to be a new record for the slowest average mph. Just how old are you? (Kidding! Even some young people drive under 10 mph average. Example, my 10 year old rides his bicycle about 5mph)

I am 70 years old. Since I am retired, I usually have nowhere I need to go and all day to get there. Out of concern for other drivers, I stay off of public roads for the most part.

My Mav is an EcoBoost, and I average 31-32mpg combined driving using ethanol-free gas.

For my former 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid I got 36.8 MPG over the 1 3/4 years of ownership and 9262 driven miles. This included a 12 day 2,804 mile vacation in the summer of 2022. That trip had lots of highway miles.

Living in Texas it gets very hot so the AC runs a lot.

The following report uses the gallons from the pump reported on the gas station receipts.

Total miles driven = 9262

Fees cost: 120.00, per mile cost: 0.013
Gas cost: 907.83, per mile cost: 0.098
Insurance cost: 961.34, per mile cost: 0.104

Edit: I sold the 2022 Maverick XLT Hybrid to Carvana for $31,404 so in effect I got to use a Maverick XLT Hybrid for 1 3/4 years for free and pocketed and additional $2,188.40 free cash

My overall average is 43.2. Before cold weather set in it was 44.3 with 2000 miles now. Of course high speed hurts, but so does hills and stop lights. I use routes when I can that have less signals causing stop and go. I don't hold people up, I accelerate to the speed limit and then keep it pretty steady. Most of my travel is on 45 mph roads. Some highway, but I am retired and not on the interstates that often. It is an amazing truck.

You catch more flys with honey than vinegar. I have a 24 Lariat hybrid with a little more than 1000 Mi (in AZ). I get more than 45MPG. First use ECO mode and the EV coach. Do not put the petal to the metal. Avoid driving over 65 mph. Try to time the stop lights. Do not use the a/c or heater unless you have to. Do not drive with the windows down or the lights always on. Get a cover for the bed. Avoid express ways. Do not load the truck without a reason. Cold weather is a MPG killer; you will do much better when it gets warmer.

I’m not accusing anyone of lying. I've just read quite a few of these types of threads. In driving all city traffic (taking my kids to school , grocery store, etc), I see 20-21 mpg. On a trip to the NC mountains, I get 28 mpg. On a highway trip to the beach (more flat terrain), I'll see 29-30 mpg. My truck is an FX4 Ecoboost with Falken Wildpeak AT's on it. I run mid to high test in my truck. I'm happy with my mileage (keeps up with my father in laws diesel silverado for far less money) but I certainly don't see the mileage others are referencing with an ecoboost.

In the last 3,200 miles on my hybrid, my "displayed" average is 45.93 and measured (odo/pump) is 44.07 overall (truck reports 4% optimistic). HOWEVER, my 40% highway mileage is often in heavy traffic at speeds & acceleration that are ideal for a hybrid, so perhaps my claim should be 20% hwy (70 MPH) and 80% city. I have also run my AC and heater a relatively small percentage of the time; these both hit your MPG noticeably. A third factor is the length of your trip. Warming up the engine produces terrible MPG for the first few minutes so many short trips after a cold soak will also hit you pretty hard. In the suburban stoplight grand prix, I tend to demand 20% power (which starts the engine) until I'm up to speed, then I coast a few seconds (to stop the engine) and continue on less than 10% power (electric) as long as possible. This seems to give me decent MPG but not piss off the drivers behind me by accelerating like a slug. e.g. I drive like Mister Magoo; looking far ahead so I can coast a lot and brake gently.

Going down hills & coasting to stoplights both help Hybrid mileage. That's when you get a lot of regenerative braking.

Try not using eco mode because it actually makes you push harder on the gas. Just put it in normal. I get 42 mpg and get about 544 miles on a fill up. I basically fill up every four weeks. Just drive normal and take your time.

I'm similar to him.
It's the opposite of a boring chore.
All these random variables to mess with to get better mileage makes it a bit more fun because you have something to be excited about rather than getting from point A to B.
It's not like were driving fun little cars, gotta do something to keep driving interesting.

here in Kansas city in 19 months I am averaging 40.7 mpg. If you want these kind of numbers you need to adopt a hybrid driving style. Keep it under 70 on the hiway. Coast to every stoplight as much as possible. Do Pulse and Glide hypermiling. Click below for my proof.

And I don't see the mileage that your referencing with my EB2.0. In the winter, it is 16 - 17 MPG or less, summer time it is around 19 MPG. Pretty much all in city traffic, stop and go, short distances 3 - 6 miles round trip with one/two stops. mid to to high grade fuel, not in the hurry and rolling to the lights. If you say that the engine does not even warm up fully, especially in the the winter, yeah, that would be correct....

Am I happy with it? No, but it is what it is and still better than my previous F150 with its 10 MPG under the same circumstances...
