I believe I saw a thread here recently with a way to calibrate the truck's mpg calculation to make it more accurate?
Yes, you can adjust the AFE bias in the engineering mode. Hold down Ok button on steering wheel while turning the Mav to accessory mode. ET pops up in instrument cluster. I've been playing with the AFE bias number but haven't found the most accurate number yet. The default is 1000. Some here have said to set it to around 965 but I found that to be too low.
I calculate my mpg manually and find it to be 1 or 2 mpg below the dashboard reading for the most part.

What are you complaining about? Yours is a lot better than mine!

Dang if you aren't a lucky booger!
8 hours to drive 63 miles? That has to be a new record for the slowest average mph. Just how old are you? (Kidding! Even some young people drive under 10 mph average. Example, my 10 year old rides his bicycle about 5mph)

I'm getting 33 average mpg after almost 3k miles. 60/40 highway/city. I understand highway is going to be worse. But I do far amount of city driving too. I use Eco mode EVERY TIME and try to keep it in electric/charging using the coach as much as possible.

So what's going on? Are you guys being serious with the MPGs you're reporting??? BE HONEST

One of the big selling points was mpg and I have 20 year old truck that I can get 25mpg in with complete disregard for driving style
I'm with you. I do not play games when driving. I step on the throttle just like I have for 50 years of driving.
Couple places I go 10-12 miles away. I can use a surface street traffic lights every half mile or so. Vehicle indicates better fuel economy, to me traffic lights are more hazardous than highway. My other option is the free way, Normally that's my choice drive a mile west just on go south or north 10-12 miles usually 75-80 mph. Get there do what I doing and repeat home.

If anyone claims 40 mpg driving at 75-80 mph, okay. I believe you.

I have 10,600 miles since January and am averaging 45 mph. My commute is a mix of 55 mph highway and small town driving.

I watch the onboard computer for "THEIR" MPG.And then I fillup and do my own "fill/calculate" with my little computer and it works out really close.I work that brake coach and do a lot of coasting stops in the right lane.Pretty flat terrain here in Central Florida and am pissed if not getting 48MPG.

My recent fuely record. You can see it went down once the weather got colder. And I'm not lying!

I set up a Fuelly account as well - drove around 1,800 miles over Thanksgiving weekend going to visit relatives in Boston, but I have not filled up my gas tank since November 25.

I do know mileage dropped quite a bit using the required ethanol in PA and MA, plus the 75 mph freeway speeds.

So there is A LOT to this, it is not simple. I commute about 50 miles each way. There are 2 different routes I can take. One is 48 miles, and takes more 2 lane roads through a couple of small towns. The other is about 53 miles, and is mostly highway. They both take about 58 minutes, BUT there is a difference in MPGs! Speed plays a HUGE role in efficiency for Hybrids. The "highway route, of 53 miles, 43 are Interstate, with a mixture of 55 mph, 65 mph, and 70 mph speed limits. My average MPG with this route in the colder weather is about 34-35 mpg, in the warmer weather was about 39-40 mpg. If I take the "slower" route the highway miles are only about 30, and my cold weather MPGs= 36-38, while my warm weather MPGs were 43-44. Also SPEED KILLS MPGs. The highway miles on the "fast route" equal about 20 miles of 55 MPH, and 29 miles of 65-70 mph, with the remaining few miles at 50 mph or less. I try to stay within 5 mph of the speed limit, but OVER 60 mph really affects the MPGs. The shorter slower route has about 20 miles of 55 mph, and then 15 or so miles of 65-70, while the remainder is 50 mph or less.

How fast are you traveling on the highway? If you are a lead foot, then the hybrid may not be for you. We took my son's EB AWD on a 4.5k mile road trip this summer, (before my Hybrid arrived), and we averaged about 33 mpg. We found any speed over 70 really killed his MPGs. Just a few notes to hopefully help you decipher your conundrum.

When I drive and get to the speed that I would like to maintain and gas engine is still running, I will take my foot off the gas coast for just a bit and VERY lightly press the gas pedal so that it electric is still being used. I can maintain the speed as long as there are not any hills or traffic gets in the way. This also works on the highway running 60 to 70 mph. I would do the same thing for my 2017 Flex that was only supposed to get 20mpg highway but I was able to get 20mpg city and 21.5mpg highway.
MPG is totally based on your driving style. If you take off like a bat out of hell you will get low mpg. Hills, wind and cold conditions and running AC or Heat will also lower your MPG
When I got my Mav it was October and the temp was perfect and did not run AC or heat and that is when I got my 700 miles to one tank. I average 600 but fill up when I hit about 50 miles left.

I’m averaging 39-41 mpg. I was hoping to his my goal of 600 miles on a single tank, but the weather turned cold and wet and the ICE is running too often. I do much better on Nevada gas than California gas.

Fuelly doesn’t lie. About 3k of these miles are towing a small loaded trailer and 3k a 6X10 enclosed trailer(25mpg). My last mpg was driving 80-90mph hwy. I regularly see 45-50mpg city and 40-45 combined. I normally drive very conservative and about 60mph hwy.

I've had 2 maverick hybrids, both XL models. Both have been at around 35-36 average MPG in the winter and then up to 41-42 average in summer. I live in the country so my typical drive includes hills, country road speeds (55+ mph), and some city driving. As others have said, cold weather makes a big difference. Not only because it takes time for the battery to warm up but the gas formulation changes from winter to summer in most states. If you are in the mid 30 mpg in cold weather, you are in the normal range. Also, I have found the slippery road mode to be the best for MPG on my trucks. Problem is I forget to switch it 99% of the time!

As for what others are saying, I think most people are pretty honest with their actual average MPG but there are some who heavily inflate what they are actually getting for these forums. I don't know why they do it but there are some outlier numbers that I just ignore. I'm sorry but nobody is getting an average of over 50 MPG over time with their mavericks unless they are hypermiling. Normal driving simply won't get that kind of mileage consistently over a long period of time. Normal driving includes hills, highway, city, bad weather, heavy accelerating and heavy breaking. All of those things have an affect on your mileage, especially on a hybrid. Heck I can easily post a mileage picture showing my latest mileage being pretty much anything I want it to show. It is easy to do and is also very deceptive.
