For my former 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid I got 36.8 MPG over the 1 3/4 years of ownership and 9262 driven miles. This included a 12 day 2,804 mile vacation in the summer of 2022. That trip had lots of highway miles.

Living in Texas it gets very hot so the AC runs a lot.

The following report uses the gallons from the pump reported on the gas station receipts.

Total miles driven = 9262

Fees cost: 120.00, per mile cost: 0.013
Gas cost: 907.83, per mile cost: 0.098
Insurance cost: 961.34, per mile cost: 0.104
Maintenance cost: 68.23, per mile cost: 0.007
Purchase cost: 27061.54, per mile cost: 2.922
Repairs cost: 45.41, per mile cost: 0.005
Wash cost: 51.25, per mile cost: 0.006

Total cost: 29215.60, per mile cost: 3.154

Gallons: 251.37
Miles per gallon: 36.8
Average price per gallon: 3.612

Edit: I sold the 2022 Maverick XLT Hybrid to Carvana for $31,404 so in effect I got to use a Maverick XLT Hybrid for 1 3/4 years for free and pocketed and additional $2,188.40 free cash

Best is to find a hybrid owner near you and take a trip together.
I came from driving a Lexus CT (Prius) so luckily this thing drives the same and I was getting 40+ mpg immediately.

When my GF or dad drive (even if its all hwy) the fuel economy drops drastically because they aren't familiar with driving hybrids.

This is lifetime in my EB 4K. I've driven the length of the state several times, but a large number of those trips were towing or hauling. Rest is mostly local suburban driving.

Might very well be the weather or type of driving for the original poster. I know mine has absolutely dropped off several MPGs with the cold weather. My drives to work after a cold night are mid-30s, with drives home more around 50 when we have the colder days. (I was low 40s in and over 60, sometimes 70 driving home).

That said, longer trips help average it higher, it's those under 20 minute or so drives where the engine needs to get to operating temp to begin with. Truck's lifetime is still hovering close to 50 though, with the current tank at 44.8. (Even a standard ICE vehicle gets lower mpg in colder weather, and winter blend gas doesn't exactly help).

I really doubt the majority of the forum is lying.
Not lying but lots of exaggeration because of short trips and only using the trip report does not equal valid data because so many variables are missing like: Hills, Was the AC or Heater running, speed on trip, etc.

Missing that info and only relying the "trip report" can cause exaggerated results.

This link shows what Real MPG people are are really getting with their Hybrid:

The REAL HYBRID MPG

I'm getting 33 average mpg after almost 3k miles. 60/40 highway/city. I understand highway is going to be worse. But I do far amount of city driving too. I use Eco mode EVERY TIME and try to keep it in electric/charging using the coach as much as possible.

So what's going on? Are you guys being serious with the MPGs you're reporting??? BE HONEST

One of the big selling points was mpg and I have 20 year old truck that I can get 25mpg in with complete disregard for driving style
I think it's a carefully coordinated effort by MTC hybrid owners to pull a cruel prank on a buyer who declared themself a Ford Maverick owner 4 life with less than 3k miles on their vehicle. I mean their couldn't possibly any other alternative logical explanation for the discrepenacy in fuel economy that you are experiencing...

I'm in southeast Kentucky with moderate hills. I have the tires that came with the truck ('22 Lariat hybrid, 33k miles). I have a 36-mile commute each way for work, about half of which is highway. I keep the sunroof raised and the rear window cracked (for fresh air), and from about March-October I was getting just over 42mpg. Now that it's colder and I'm running the defrost, I'm getting closer to 37/38mpg. I have a casual driving style and try to use electric power as much as possible.

You raise a point - so when/if I ever do get my hybrid there is a different way to drive it? One that gets you better mileage?
I think if I drove my current Jeep Wrangler differently I could probably get better mileage. I just can't drive behind people doing 35 mph on a 40mph road.

You catch more flys with honey than vinegar. I have a 24 Lariat hybrid with a little more than 1000 Mi (in AZ). I get more than 45MPG. First use ECO mode and the EV coach. Do not put the petal to the metal. Avoid driving over 65 mph. Try to time the stop lights. Do not use the a/c or heater unless you have to. Do not drive with the windows down or the lights always on. Get a cover for the bed. Avoid express ways. Do not load the truck without a reason. Cold weather is a MPG killer; you will do much better when it gets warmer.

Never gotten less than 44 mpg for an entire tank full. Unless I'm towing a trailer. Best ever was 54 MPG and 790 miles from one fill up. 100% city.

It is high 30's on the highways.
Even lower as temperatures drop to the point you need cabin heating.

Cabin heating costs a lot of gas.
Really.

Been hovering in the 40s here for a month in S. Ontario on average since my last fill up. Still averaging mid 30s MPG.
