Great video, thx for sharing.curious can you install a catch can yourself? Or is this a dealer/ garage install? This is a YouTube with graphics.
Should be able to install yourself, just some minor (unless you create a leak) plumbing and mounting the catch can itself. But it all will be part of a kit to make it easier.Great video, thx for sharing.curious can you install a catch can yourself? Or is this a dealer/ garage install?
The 2.0, 2.3 and 2.7 engines have a built-in oil separator, bolted onto the block where the PCV plumbing starts. That's why nobody is getting any oil in their aftermarket catch-cans.very informative. i'm slightly bummed now. does Maverick have the separator built in? an aftermarket catchcan seems like a good idea in any case along with Top Tier gasoline and good oil with 5k changes.
Well, that makes sense. How do they drain the oil?The 2.0, 2.3 and 2.7 engines have a built-in oil separator, bolted onto the block where the PCV plumbing starts. That's why nobody is getting any oil in their aftermarket catch-cans.
Could you offer a reference document, or specific info this? Or maybe Ford has info of their built in catch can.The 2.0, 2.3 and 2.7 engines have a built-in oil separator, bolted onto the block where the PCV plumbing starts. That's why nobody is getting any oil in their aftermarket catch-cans.

vapors enter the trap from a hole in the block, pass over a series of baffles removing the oil and on to the intake. Oil trapped then drains back into the crankcase by gravity.Well, that makes sense. How do they drain the oil?
Nice. Thanks! The 2.0, 2.3 and 2.7 engines have a built-in oil separator, bolted onto the block where the PCV plumbing starts. That's why nobody is getting any oil in their aftermarket catch-cans.
that would make a great show and tellExcept that the factory system doesn't work 100%. I empty 1-2 tablespoons worth from the dirty side every 5k miles.
Yeah. Kind of a limited audience though. As the years go by there's less and less gearheads. When I was 16 I got a "beater" that I had to work on. Now the kids want new or, at least, pretty cars.that would make a great show and tell

It's not so much of a performance mod as it is a preventative maintenance type of mod. How many people want to shell out for the walnut shell cleaning that is typically required on direct injection engines? I have 2 other di engines in my fleet of cars other than the Maverick, I've done the shell cleaning on both and it kinda sucks.Yeah. Kind of a limited audience though.
