do you have a tune and if so which are you using?

I think it might run with the swap but I'm pretty confident it will need a new tune. are you keeping everything else stock for now just swapping the short block?
I have a tuner. But i think im puting all the internals of the 2.3 short block to the 2.0 engine. Make it stroker. And im probably building it. Like buying aftermarket pistons, headgasket probably eliminating the oil pump balanchaft etc. So its going to take a while . And im waiting of running out of warranty lol 😆.

Bold. Ever built an engine before? Surprising you didn't just get one from Tuneplus or any of the other established ecoboost 4 cylinder engine builders.

But right now, I would probably use a stock 2.3 bottom end and start modifying the rest of the engine to support whatever power goal you have in mind (and budget to do). Then when something breaks, you get new pistons etc.

I'm pretty sure you'll want a new cylinder head, turbo manifold, turbo before the pistons themselves ever really become the limiting factor or best improvement at that time. (Just based on ecoboost mustang and focus builds.)

Yes i have done some engine work before . Since i work on Ford. Im thinking of just re using my 2.0 heads maybe changing the cams, and valve springs. Arp head studs and much more. Will see what happens when i get to that point lol 😆

And the other reasson im using the same 2.0 block its because this 2.3 came off from a ford explorer rear wheel drive. And i think the axles mount are not on the block. Also i got a good deal on this short block . 650 dollars.

I'm all about the DIY, and I think this will be great! I'm glad you are building it, because if you were using stock components, I don't think there would be any worth to the swap. 15% more displacement is nice, but if you are going to do it, having rods and pistons will definitely make it worth it in the long run! It'll be great to see a Mav with 5-600whp! Good luck with the build!

I love this stuff. Can't wait to try my hand at it in about 10 years once our Mav is old enough for me to start fiddling with motor swaps.

One thing I was wondering is how far down does that water jacket go before the cylinders connect to the block??? Does the head have a lip or something thy lock into with? I'm just amazed that the cylinders stay put at anything over 4000 rpm. I've had plenty of Windsors and AMC 6s apart, some small engines, nitro RC and diesels but that just looks wild to me. Just interesting design. I'm sure it keeps it cool up near the fire though.
