When I started my stereo install I knew I'd want to get some sound dampening inside the door. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a tutorial on how to get the window regulator panel off. After some research on similar vehicles I was able to sort it out. It is actually pretty simple once you know what to look for. Kudos to Ford for making it easy.

I guess I now know why getting things fixed is so expensive.

Great pics and helpful info. I know you can't mess with the tracks, but I don't know how much tolerance you have on either side of the black plastic.

Could you please take some pics of your final deadening install and share any notes you have about areas that can't be covered, etc? I only did the inside of the interior-facing panel and I have some resonance with bass guitar especially, so I might tackle something like this over the winter.

A good song to generate resonance in my truck is Circles by Post Malone. I haven't looked in my RTA to see the frequency, but I hear the bass guitar humming big time.

I can take pics of the driver's side door when I do that side. I've already closed up the passenger side. I plan on tackling that side on the weekend. On the passenger side I used Kno Knoise Kolossus CLD on the large exposed portions of door skin and then put some thick closed cell foam deadener directly behind the driver.

I'm just going from memory, but I recall others taking off the black panel and then having the power window assembly foul on it, or fitment issues with the interior panel.

I want to put as much CLD on it as I can, but if others have already found where not to put it, that would be useful to share. (y)

It is not getting it apart that is the problem, it is getting it back together and have the window functioning correctly that I am worried about
It goes back together really easy. Once you re-attach the panel, you just slide the window down and it locks back into the track. The glass has holes drilled through it were the tabs on the track lock into it.

Good info, but Hail No! I'm not going that far.

I will just put the deadening material on the plastic panel and behind the speaker where I can reach with my hand.

interesting, you didn't put any deadening material on the black panel itself, just behind it on the inside of the door skin?

I kind of question the need to put deadening material on the plastic since it is less resonant by nature. I'm planning to put it together this way and see how it sounds. It will be easy to come back to the regulator panel if needed. I have some thin sheets of CCF (liner) that I may add between the regulator panel and door panel/card if I notice any noise or vibration. It is a question of time and money when it comes to sound deadening. I was trying to do my whole system for around $1K. I'm a little over.

Great images. I'm scared to take off that inner panel, but I really do want to add deadener to the outer door skin, as well as the plastic panels.

I need to replace the passenger side front glass, wondering if this would be possible following your steps? Anything you can think of to help?

Do you think it would just slide right out of the frame once I undo the tabs holding it in to the regulator?

I never took the glass all the way out - no need. It seems like if you removed the weatherstripping, the glass would just pull out of the door. You wouldn't need to remove the inner door skin. I don't think it will be that difficult to remove.
