WTF are you on about here?

If they made an AWD Hybrid Maverick, there would be no need for the EB. It's got nothing to do with "devotion to ICE". That said, the EB was chosen by me after the massive amount of potential issues the 2.5L and it's Hybrid system are currently in across every platform they use it in. It's not a risk I was willing to take going from two vehicles to a single one. I had the Hybrid Escape, loved it at the pump, never trusted it and got rid of it a year and a half later. Plus, experiencing the difference in Montana winters was another factor. When the ICE constantly needs to kick in just to maintain a temperature threshold, and the battery life is diminished at the same time due to the cold, it kind of defeats the purpose and further makes one question reliability. None of this is a "knock" to Hybrid owners btw... the system gets all the love it deserves for being great on MPG... but in terms of reliability, I'll take my chances with the single drivetrain engine, single battery, and a turbo. And btw, the EB is far from perfect, which is also no secret. If they made a non turbo version that got 28+ MPG, I'd be all over that in a heart beat.

Basically, it's about what is being offered and your needs paired with FORD using leftovers to milk profits. We'll take what we can get I guess.

What does bother me, is your intention for this post. Some of us can see right through it. Yes, the Hybrids make more sense. Cool story, bro. This is why the "EB vs. Hybrid" mentality exists on this forum. You guys didn't get enough love as children and now you crave the attention for 10 more MPG... get over it. You win in that category by default. It's no secret. Congrats. The Maverick overall is a great little truck regardless of what engine you chose, but engine is clearly NOT the only factor. What makes more sense in one category fails in another and it's got nothing to do with Hybrid vs. EB at all. It's a "You" thing.

Well, I wasn't thinking about saving the planet when I ordered a lightning f-150...

The 40k price, with extra 7k tax incentive sounded too good to be true, and in the end, it was.

We needed a new vehicle, so we kept looking.

I've still got my '96 F-150, and wanted to replace it, but after driving a few new ones with the 2.7, I wasn't impressed.

Tested a few rangers, but the cost $$$, and mediocre mileage? Decided to pass.

Figured I'd just keep the old truck and buy a used car instead.

I was looking at a used accord, when the salesman talked me into trying a new accord hybrid.

I told him I wasn't interested, but he said it's ok just to cruise around and check it out, even if I don't want it.

WOW-

They have really refined their hybrid cars over at Honda...

But after running the numbers, in the end it was just too expensive.

But, I suddenly found myself interested in hybrids.

When my local dealer finally got a maverick on the lot, it was a hybrid.

Not nearly as smooth and nice as the accord, but it was a lot less $$$, plus it's a truck!!!

I pulled the trigger, and while the radio/screen/backup camera sucks @ss, and the battery capacity is lame in hot weather, I still love the acceleration, and mileage...

I've been having fun trying different driving styles, and depending on the temperature, I can get pretty good results-

It's October, but still got up to 105 degrees this afternoon here. Still managed 42 mpg on my last tank.

Pretty sure I can do better when it finally cools down...

with all due respect to my Ecoboost and 'pure' ICE' devotee's i submit to you that our Mav hybrid system makes far more sense for most people.
If the hybrid offered AWD with the 4k tow package, I likely would have bought one. By the time I am ready for my next vehicle, they will hopefully have corrected that shortcoming, and added a plug in option. I'd be all over that.

Given the number of recalls, I'm okay letting you guys be the beta testers! :)

Gotta laugh at the amount of big jacked up 4 x 4 trucks rambling around that have never ever seen and surface other than concrete and asphalt. I'ts a mentality.
We're a multi vehicle family-

Got a lifted FJ for the flooded wash, and a 5.0 F-150 if I want to tow something...

They sit parked most of the time.

Yup. Hard to use a single vehicle here in Wyoming. Our Jeep Wrangler awaits the snow, when the Maverick will go on the float charger. The MX-5 awaits the sunny days for fun jaunts.

I believe there are many hybrid people who chose because of AGW (Anthropogenic Global Warming = overall warming of Earth's climate caused or produced by humans).
So, I'd like to hear their Mav comments.
That is part of my choice for the hybrid. I love that wording! I’m usually accusing people of misanthropy so I love to see another meaning.

I don't give a rat's ass about the enviroment or "fosil fuel dependecy".
I want a hybrid for the same reason I want just about the most inexpensive new
vehicle out there - I'm cheap.
The better milage.

My devotion is to ICE and i absolutely hate hybrids and EV's. Remember, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

i think most of us agree that the goal is/ should be to reduce Fossil Fuel dependency/emissions by as much as possible as soon as possible right? and i think it must be done sooner, not later . but that shouldnt mean destroying civilization as we know it.
i believe that Hybrids such as our Mav's should & could play a MUCH greater role in this ongoing transition.

with all due respect to my Ecoboost and 'pure' ICE' devotee's i submit to you that our Mav hybrid system makes far more sense for most people. my Mav hybrid has excellent off the line and highway merging performance and is very well appointed for a vehicle in this price range to boot.
i have gone from filling up the tank once a week to once a month, of course your mileage and experience will vary from mine but that is not nothing.
there are not many folks out there that don't like the idea of perhaps doubling their MPG or more while also getting so much value for the $$.

while and until we build out the necessary infrastructure for a mostly electric fleet such as better batteries & more plentiful, and more efficient charging options and better used electric batt recycling options and so forth to support the coming transition to a mostly electric passenger and over the road trucking vehicle fleet it sure seems to me that BHEV's should be the next step to get us there.

one more thing. the US. Census bureau reports that 40% of Americans do NOT have regular access to recharging options for a plug in electric vehicle or plug in hybrid vehicle at home or at work, thats a problem for a lot more people than you may think.
where are these folks supposed to recharge these darn things?
even if you got a electric car or truck with a 300 mile per charge range you WILL eventually have t0 recharge the batt at some point. where are you supposed to recharge the darn thing if you're one of those many folks that don't have access to reasonable recharge options? ....answer....get yourself a Maverick Hybrid and help save the planet while also owning one of the best small pickups for sale anywhere :)

I'd wager that more turbos have needed replacement than hybrid batteries.
Hybrid components gets a nice 100k warranty, also.

Yeah, for the reasons mentioned. And, for a mechanical/ technical person like me the hybrid system is just so damn clever. Everything is integrated nicely and it's soo smooth.
I totaled my hybrid so right now I'm driving a Ecoboost Mav off the lot till my new hybrid gets in and I might get addicted to the AWD in the snow but I loved my hybrid. Once you get used to driving it it the way to go.

I don't know why you believe Hybrids aren't getting any love. Last year around this time it was reported that in the 6 day window that Maverick order books were open a large majority of trucks ordered were the Hybrid version. And news reports just this month are saying that Hybrids sales are booming and are expected to triple in the next 5 years.

https://www.carscoops.com/2023/08/hybrid-sales-in-the-us-expected-to-triple-by-2028/

https://fordauthority.com/2023/08/farley-says-ford-hybrid-sales-expected-to-significantly-grow/

I do agree with you that Hybrids do see like a more sensible transition than just discontinuing ICE vehicles and immediately going fully electric. Our country does not yet have the infrastructure for all electric vehicles.
You're right. If, IF, the majority of vehicles out there were electric we'd have trouble powering them as we haven't built enough power plants of late and the price of electricity would skyrocket

Hybrids are THE best bridge to whatever is next, electric or hydrogen, or whatever.

Problem is a certain political side of the world has figured out they can control the masses by making energy very expensive pushing towards all electric .......whether it solves the fake problem or not.

Go hybrids!!
