Added Remote Start with Start-X for just $99

Hey Mavheads,

I just successfully added Remote Start to my 2023 EB for just $99. Super easy (about 10 minutes install). Uses standard key fob (lock-unlock-lock). Works like a charm. Only cost $99. Just in time for the wet/cold Oregon winter.

If it doesn't work with hybrids, this is a great option that does, FORD PERIMETER PLUS VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM. Including installation (although I've heard it's not that hard to do yourself), it's $305 ($245 w/o). I got mine with points, ended up costing me about $35. A big plus is that besides the remote start, you get the Ford Perimeter Plus Vehicle Security System.

Just use the Ford app and schedule it, works like a charm, it's free. I have an XL Hybrid.

Your truck already has remote start through the Ford Pass app.

I added it too since I didn't get the fob remote with the truck. Don't know if that was a Ford change or dealer screw up. Cheaper too at 100.

The app is great, but Ford could decide to stop supporting it or make it a subscription tomorrow. I've worked on cars long enough to see tech "upgrade" enough to render it useless someday too.

Ford has said that, unlike other US brands, they are keeping their app features "free." They will monetize the app feature(s) by selling your vehicle data to data brokers & insurance companies.

And if they ever did decide to change course & start charging for app features, you could always just add StartX later.

Honestly, the key fob is quicker and easier. I plan to get one of these as remote start was the only option I miss. I camp too often to rely completely on FordPass.
