Great fuel economy aside, I'm pretty satisfied with the hybrid powertrain.

I’m only two weeks in with mine and I’m absolutely blown away how impressive this truck is. We have had a heat wave and AC is cold within minutes. The fuel economy has been bonkers great.

Four hours of interstate yesterday and what a wonderful highway cruiser my 23 XL hybrid has proven to be. Few vehicles have I owned that made me look forward to a trip like the "Silver Sipper".

My first introduction to a Ford hybrid was at work, where I drive a CMAX and travel through 11 different counties for my job. The thing is a little powerhouse, never a single issue, if I didn't know it was a hybrid I'd never think, "Oh, it does that because it's hybrid." It drives and performs like any other vehicle Ive had.

The CMAX is what convinced me to get the hybrid version of the Maverick. I've also found it to drive and perform like any other vehicle. Peppy, fun, solid feel. The only issue at all Ive experienced in my 3+ weeks of ownership now is two instances of that grabby brakes thing at very low speeds. I'm gonna wait and see if it takes care of itself in the first 1000 miles, and if not take it in (I don't think the 23's are part of the TSB?)

At any rate, super happy with the hybrid. At one point in The Long Wait, I emailed my sales guy wanting to switch to EB just to get the thing built, but he talked me off that ledge, knew I both wanted and needed the hybrid. Glad he did!

You know, if they never made the hybrid I'd still be extatic about the 30mpg ecoboost.

So getting around 40mpg in a truck that can haul 1300 lbs of rock (plus me), cost <$30k, and has the turning radius and parallel parking capability like a small hatchback is unbelievable.

I recently played around with sport mode and loved how this truck jumped from a dead stop. And no matter what mode it's in, the acceleration is butter-smooth.

I've never been a car or truck guy. I drove whatever got me from A to B. Now my problem is my wife's tired of me talking about the Maverick. But that's what you all are for!
I threw into the conversation the other day. "I saved enough on gas savings to go to Costco and get that air fryer you want". Only problem is she is now asking about the milage.

Yup I can vouch for that. I'm really impressed with the highway ride, it never feels underpowered, and the ride is surprisingly nice. I'm still teasing my wife that my truck is better on gas than her hatchback, she's gone from getting annoyed to thinking it's funny lol.

Guess who's taking over the "Silver Sipper"?

At 8400 miles, consistently getting just over 600 miles per tank lol. It's a really great truck.

Typical trip to town. Should I assume MPGs will drop once I start using the heat?

Yes. But if you have seat and steering wheel heaters, those are nearly free to use. In CA that's all I use unless we dip into the 40's.

I get the best hybrid fuel economy in spring and fall. Not a huge difference in MPG though (3-4 MPG?)

The hybrid heat comes on very quickly in the dead of winter, very comfy. I have never had a heated steering wheel before and I like it.

Pro tip: Do not turn on Cabin Heat until the engine temp needle is above the the first tic mark.

Same for me. There's the complaints about things like the brakes but they're just something to get used to. I was ready to not like the "lack of power" but that's not the case. Acceleration and cruising are great. Very happy.
I have zero complains about the brakes. And this truck stops quick when needed! I have a late build 2023, and it seems earlier complaints about drivability have all been addressed. The Hybrid/ICE transition and operation is very smooth. Zero regrets here.

I don't use heat until it warms up on it's own either.

Thanks. I have an XL, so no heated seats or steering wheel. But one wall of my garage is below grade, so it never gets below freezing in the garage, even in the coldest weather here. So my vehicles are never crazy cold when I first get in. My previous vehicle, a Subaru Impreza, had heated seats, but I rarely used them, except mostly as a summer prank on an unsuspecting passenger. :devilish:

This is great advice in theory, but in many situations impractical. Most of the time when I "need" heat it is because the windshield is frozen/snow covered/foggy.

All this time spent idling and warming is the first time I have seen where an argument for a larger battery makes more sense. I am spending a lot more time above 60% charge these days. BUT that just means that I can spend more time coasting though! Still have not seen below 40MPG despite changing tires and weather. I am impressed.
