The Maverick might get to best entry level vehicle if production can scale to meet demand and Ford puts a lid on price increases.
My vote would be for 80's and 90's Escorts. One of the best selling vehicles of that era. I paid $10K for a new 1992 LX. That would be about $20K adjusted for inflation.
The only new vehicle that hits the $20K mark is the Mirage and they don't sell well. 15K sales last year. Escorts sold 300-400K every year of the 80's

It's a cheap vehicle built with cheap labor by one of the most recalled manufacturers in America.

While it has no competition when considering the bed and price, it would not be my first choice in the 25-40k price range if I didn't need a bed.
Sounds like you need to get rid of it and get a better quality truck built by high priced union labor.

The civic is still an amazing entry level that springs to mind they’re cheap, reliable, and the amount of modifications you can do to it is practically unmatched in combination of how readily available parts are.

but as somebody who enjoyed all 3 years of their 2016 Honda civic I’m bias. Only thing it doesn’t have going for it is how small it is but it isn’t marketed to be big so it gets a pass

Can anyone else name an entry level product from any mainstream brand that's been this affordable, practical, reliable, efficient, good looking, fun to drive? While also having this much character? I've never seen another affordable vehicle that has this much passion put into it.

1000% zero contest, the original Ford Model T... It literally defined all the things above and transformed the world as we know it......

Ford Maverick #2....

;)

Except the factory in Mexico that makes the maverick has an absolutely incredible reputation for making quality/reliable vehicles. It's often viewed as the standard for quality not just within Ford, but to other brands as well.
I know about the Ford quality award they won a few years ago, but was not aware of any other recognition. Can you provide a source for anything else?

And the Model T cost about the same as the Maverick, adjusted for inflation. Same was true for my ‘02 Ranger.

I am amazed at what I get for the money with my Maverick. I like almost everything about it, and to me it looks better than many $50,000 vehicles. We Maverick owners (and those with one on order) know a hot deal when we see it.
A couple of people have guessed my XL (with steelies) was a $40K truck. That’s a feel-good.

Same, coworkers guessed $40-50k, should have seen their mouths fall open when I told them it was $24!😆

I ordered a RR First Edition Mav in July 2021. Took delivery 15 month later at originally agreed sticker price. Out the door, including 8 year bumper to bumper Ford warranty, including tax, 38K. That's not a cheap vehicle. But this Mav has all the goodies I want in my daily driver (sunroof, good sound system, dual A/C, rear hatch with lock, electric driver seat, 4 door pick up truck, radar cruise control, lane control, leather steering wheel and 39 mpg over total mileage. The list goes on !! At current 7K miles on the odometer, cero problems so far. With this specs, there is really not much competition on the market, for now. By today, the Mav has increased its price, sure, but so does the competition. However, its a ever changing market, and for 2024/2025 for sure, some competitors will fight the Mav, on specs and on price. For now, the Mav is a winner !!

The only car I've loved as much (if not more) than my Maverick was my VERY basic 1998 Honda Civix CX hatchback I bought new, after a series of buying crappy used cars (mostly VWs.) The thing was so basic I had to pay an additional $1100 to have AC installed. That mofo ran like a tank, and with a few mild glitches that were typical for that particular make and year, the car brought many smiles and was a faithful companion for 12+ years.

Sadly, I was rear-ended by a tractor trailer, and that was the end of that vehicle. Walked away with nothing more than a bruised ankle, but the impact was bad enough to blow out all the rear windows, and my driver's seat twisted to the left. because of the impact.

Yes, due to Ford jacking up starting prices, I no longer consider it "cheap".

I like my truck. It is simple and appears to be more straightforward to work on than most modern vehicles. One of the main reasons I bought it.

Especially straightforward compared to my previous vehicle, 2009 VW Jetta TDI Wagon. Who thought it to be a great idea to bury the brake fluid reservoir to where you have to remove the air intake to check it?

For me, I enjoyed my early CX9 with all-wheel-drive for looks, power and comfort… I thought it set a benchmark for today's SUVs. My most recent fave was my top end hybrid fusion… Nicest car I ever owned. Now, very happy with my hybrid Maverick and the 35-45 mpg. People talking about "I need a bed" don't carry anything in the back and they couldn't reach it if they did. The Maverick checks that remaining empty box for utility.
