Vroom offered me $1364 more today than last week...$36364. My 2023 Lariat Hybrid LUX BAP keeps climbing, despite all the nay-sayers telling us prices are dropping. Not selling, BTW. Cars.com still has real, in-stock used Lariat Hybrids in the $42k-$46k range.

I can’t help but wonder if these were ordered for flipping and it’s already not worthwhile or ā€˜23s ordered thinking copilot assist was part of the ACC package and turned it down when the customer realized it. Would be some interesting data.
I ended up buying a Tesla Model Y while I was waiting on my '23 XTL Hybrid, with plans on still purchasing the Mav to check it out, drive it for a bit, and potentially sell it if it was for a gain. I sold an older F150 and Passat TDI to purchase the Tesla.

I've been watching FB marketplace and have saved Mav's in my area (Phoenix) that are not priced much more than what mine will cost after taxes. They have been listed for weeks now. Yes, I agree that at least in certain areas the bubble has burst.

Looking forward to the '24 XLT Hybrid BAP in Terrain that I have ordered. Can't help but think it will be a keeper.

Prices won’t drop, it’s a supply / demand issue.

Difficult concept for some.

The more they supply, the lower the demand. Prices will drop.
Competition comes out, next shiny new toy grabs consumer attention - the Maverick is no longer the only/new hybrid compact truck and there goes the resale value. It's only a matter of time.

Stealing is if someone takes something you have that doesn't belong to them.

If you pay more for a vehicle because you want it, or refuse to buy a vehicle because it costs more than you want to pay, that's NOT anyone stealing from you.

MY24 Maverick order banks are OPEN right now and have been open for a month. Anyone who wants a Maverick at MSRP is welcome to place an order TODAY and wait just like I did.
Let me tell you a story from the good book to see if there is any collation.

There was one of the disciples that had just as much right to the funds as everyone else in the group. It belonged to him just as much as it did to the others. Well the others never touched the funds nor knew how much was in the funds, so was it really theirs? Judas didn't think it was a problem taking more than the others because they haven't even touched it yet.

Judas might have used psychology to ease his conscious, but the Bible still called him a thief in John 12:6.

I agree Judas was a thief but don't follow your logic here.

Lots of people (not me) wanted Taylor Swift tickets this summer but couldn't get them becsuse other people bought them all first and the concerts sold out. Did the people who got tickets "steal" them from those who didn't?

Agsin, you are welcome to order one, five or 50 Mavericks. Or none. Or go buy one off a lot for a markup. Or go buy something else. Or buy nothing at all. Whatever you decide to do is completely up to you. No one has stolen anything from you.

Obviously nobody stole those tickets or stole these trucks. But does that mean the person who ordered 5 trucks to resell did the right thing? Or the person who ordered 5 trucks just trying to get 1 faster did the right thing? Both situations took away from someone else who wanted a truck. Might not be stealing, but not something I would say deserves congratulations, or is promoting the community that is trying to build here.

Ah, a completely different argument. Is it SELFISH to order 5 trucks, or buy 10 concert tickets when you only need five and scalp the other five?

The answer is quite possibly yes, but even here I suppose it is a matter of degrees. Let's say someone ordered a Maverick in 2022 and it didn't get built, and they were super disappointed. So, they ordered two or three 23 Mavericks and got one. Then another one got built. Was that person being selfish when they ordered? Or were they just responding to the circumstances they had just experienced. Having waited 15 months for a truck already?

Now, what about when the second Maverick arrives? If they just tell the dealer they don't want it, it is selfish because the dealer is going to mark it up and someone else who didn't wait gets it by paying extra money? Or, are they only selfish is they buy it (when the ALREADY HAVE a Maverick) and flip it?

Again, this idea of whether this is SELFISH is an interesting discussion. And can at least get on the same page with you here. Still, it's hard to draw hard-and-fast conclusions, and I think the entire discussion sort of dismisses the true culprit in all this. Ultimately, Ford Motor Co. is the entity that failed to meet customer demand for the vehicle, failed to control its order banks to prevent far more orders from being taken than could be produced and failed to adequately prepare for the vast imbalance in demand between the hybrid and the Ecoboost. Blaming fellow forum members for your misfortune is misplaced, IMO.

FWIW, it appears that only now, in the third production year, has Ford finally figured out how to control the Maverick orders and achieve reasonable delivery times by telling each dealer their annual Maverick allocations ahead of time and warning them not to exceed those numbers with the orders they submit into the retail order bank. So, fortunately for all involved, I do not believe you will see the kind of chaos in MY24 that has reigned for the past two production years.

Is the almighty capitalism selfish or simply the free market doing what it does?

Can I rant at all the Boomers that "stole" all the cheap housing and good wages from the next generations?

Maybe we could all just drive fleet white XL hybrid Mavericks and live in a socialist utopia instead :-D

It comes back to that concept of loving your neighbor as yourself. Most people are so stuck on themselves they don't realize nor care about the wake of destruction they leave in their path.

It all comes back to greed. Making sure they get what they want even if it means creating an artificial toilet paper shortage for the whole country. There's a reason the government had to pass laws concerning price gouging gas during times of crises. The heart is deceitful above all else and desperately wicked. People are like animals. They'll attack the next one and eat the the food out of its dying mouth even though there is plenty to go around, but since they can only see what's in front of their face they want it immediately. They have no patience.

Then because no one wants to admit being in error they'll commit the 'root of all evil' and deny being in the wrong.

However - this is simply supply and command.

Carvana (or Vroom) doesnt have to pay me a dime over MSRP - yet they do.

Why does Carvana offer to pay me more than MSRP? Because they can sell it to someone dumb enough to buy over MSRP and banks willing to lend over MSRP.

So in actuality who is really at fault? Answer: the buyer.

Whats the solution? People stop buying over MSRP.

Last point - if I dont do it someone else will - so why shouldnt it be me.

A refused order sold as stock isn't price or finance protected. Since those trucks comprise less than 10% of orders the "mandatory" mark ups add to a buyer's hesitation to overpay. Dealers want to snare impatient customers so the negotiating game is on full display when a dealer who doesn't get many Maverick gouging chances puts the Saturday ballons on a model.

My local dealers are down to a $2,500 markup on Mavericks. And of course even that is negotiable. My guess is if you are willing to pay sticker and finance with the dealership (so they get a kickback from the local bank) you'll have a good chance of getting that offer accepted.
