Why did you order a Maverick? What are you going to use it for?

In no order:
- I'm a firefighter, and I wanted a way to keep my gear outside the cab (contaminants/carcinogens prevention)
- Needed something for hauling stuff for home projects (panels, lumber, shingles, pavers, etc.)
- Something I can load bikes into easily
- Something for long camping trips (the hybrid drivetrain is a huge selling point here)
- Something I can still paralell park in Chicago when I need to
- Ive always wanted the utility aspects of a truck, but couldn't justify buying something that big and with poor MPG.

Maverick seems like a great fit!
I've been reading a bunch of posts today and very few folks have given any indication why they really ordered this truck. I've heard "suits me to a tee", "this truck was made for me", etc., etc. I live in Texas country and out here in the sticks I don't think the Maverick will do too well. Oil workers and farmers and ranchers are going with Rams and F150s because that is what they need. However, I believe places like Dallas and its suburbs will probably find good sales for the Maverick.

I'm wondering - specifically, why are you buying this particular truck? I'll begin. I'm in my '70s and have owned mid-size trucks of various sorts during my life. I loved my two Dodge Dakotas and I bought one of the very first Ridgelines to come off the line in 2005. Now that money is no longer a major consideration, I've been driving Mercedes vehicles and love them but decided they just were not practical for me now that I am older with different things going on in my life. I've taken up gardening so I need something to haul plants and mulch. In my current vehicle, lucky if I can get two bags of potting soil in the thing. I live on a golf course and play almost every day but I would love to get a few guys together now and then and go to other courses - just throw the bags in the back end and go. Again, lucky if I can get a 7 iron in the car I have now. It is a beast, fast and fun to drive but I think I'm getting past that stage now. I don't trailer anything and frankly, I really don't need a truck but my love of smaller trucks won out and I ordered a Lariat that was pretty well loaded. I have a new Mercedes ordered too and should arrive next month. Now I can say I have the best of both worlds.

So, why did you buy a Maverick and what do you plan on doing with it?
72, retired and want to move to one vehicle. Old Subaru wagon was the hauler... it's sold. Newer Subaru Impreza too small for lumber for projects. Always liked small pickups but needed four doors and a back seat. Maverick fits perfectly and the hybrid powertrain made it even more attractive. Front wheel drive is better in snow than rear wheel drive (like the old compact pickups), and even though we're in snow country we don't have to venture out if the weather is bad. After the snowplows are done, FWD and true winter tires will get us where we need to go.

Daily driver. My dad taught me that if you have more than one vehicle, one has to be a truck. My spouse drives a Toyota Camry, my daughter, a Ford Mustang (EcoBoost--didn't get the kid a 5.0) , and mine to the left. I've needed a replacement for a while. I need a truck when people in my sphere need to haul things that won't fit in a car. That said, once I receive mine, we may replace the Camry with a second Maverick or Bronco Sport (she gets a new car every 3 to 5 years and is due). We have had other makes, but prefer Fords. Other Fords we (she) had are: Mercury Villager (2), Contour (sucked the hind tit), Mustang 5.0 convertible (2), Fusion Hybrid, and an Edge (her favorite and may go back to one).

Being in our late 60s, we have owned several full size pickup trucks with a couple of S-10s thrown in. As our needs have changed and having sold our 25 ft. travel trailer we no long needed the Silverado 1500 to pull with. We really needed a small truck with 4 doors to accommodate our small hounds for easy loading and having a bed to haul pressure washers and other small loads. We have now a small pop-up camper that will be a breeze for the Hybrid to haul. Having a truck that has a fuel economy that is twice what we were getting with our Silverado will be GREAT. As soon as we read of the Mavericks features we knew that this checked off ALL of our needs. The lower cost to purchase made us order one right away. We ordered the XLT with several options in Hot Pepper Red. We are really anxious to drive it.

It'll be my daily driver. I can then start modifying my foxbody.

I purchased a Ford Escape Hybrid Limited in 2009 and enjoyed the FEH very much. I was t-boned in 2015 (totaled) and the FEH was no longer available (discontinued). I bought a nice SUV but missed owning a hybrid. When the Maverick was announced I saw the specs were perfect for me so reserved and ordered as soon as the dealer contacted me. Getting 2.0L Hybrid with Lariat & Lux Pkg.

I currently own a 2019 VW Tiguan that is a great vehicle and I love it. I also work for a contractor and I’ve been in that line of work for a couple years now. I’ve recently bought a home in March that I’m slowly remodeling, and it’ll take me a couple years.
So I need something I can take to Home Depot on the weekends and grab Sheetrock, lumber, doors, windows, etc. I’ve been putting off bigger projects because I don’t want to be that guy that straps precarious things on top of his SUV. I also get tons of furniture, vanities, etc. that the rich people here in Charleston throw away during our remodels that I can take home with me. I’ve passed up so many items because they wouldn’t fit in my SUV. And there’s no way I’d buy any vehicle that gets 17mpg, so this is absolutely perfect for me.

I live in San Diego Ca.

I commute 60 miles a day and I've been splitting up the drive in cars not exactly mpg friendly lol 1999 V6 Mustang and 2016 Mustang GT. The way I see it, I'm going to pay for it in the gas money I've been spending.

I was in the market for a Prius or Corolla for the fuel mileage around this price range and when this was announced it was exactly what I was looking for. I rather drive this small truck then a car and have a few more options incase I need to haul something larger home or just have options when I take camping/hiking vacations.

Can't wait!

Fun hauler that is relatively inexpensive to purchase and operate as retired folks. Every family should have access to a pickup and for many of us a small bed is all that is needed for daily tasks and store/shop runs.... if I need bigger I can use my old GMC Sierra that I grudgingly sold to a buddy!

I have owned at least a dozen different Fords over the decades - but never bought new. My first “ car” was a ‘31 A Ford pickup very “used“ indeed. Time to get a rig that is not burdened with every new electronic and computer driven safety and convenience features unless you want your Maverick built that way. This can still be a base truck that is not braking on its own via lane departure and over amped cruise control with a safety perimeter or a speed sensor driven or “robotic” driving if you still like to drive as I do. A base Ford Maverick has several standard modern features but you can choose the level you want it to be built with and the standard items can be left alone or avoided if you so desire. I’m not truly a Luddite yet.....as I still enjoy simplicity and having control over my own destiny.✔🇺🇸

Mid 70's, retired, recently owned a new Colorado and Ranger which are nice but I hate needing a step ladder to reach anything in the bed.
I occasionally tow small British sports cars but don't need the 7500lb capability of the above trucks. With the right trailer the Maverick will tow anything I own and still stay in the towing envelope. I generally prefer smaller vehicles and that include trucks so the last full size truck I owned was over 20 years ago plus they now want stupid money for them.

Kids are grown, my van is essentially being used as a truck.... and its nearly 20 years old! We are planning on moving rural in a couple years, would like to change to a low carbon life. Ideally I would get a larger EV truck, but they are all waaay too expensive and the tech is far from mature. The Maverick hybrid neatly fills in the gap.

Will be used to haul Kayaks (with a hitch rack), dirt, lumber, mulch, stone, sand etc. All of which are awful to do in a minivan.

The reason I'm buying a Maverick is the affordable price, and the hybrid engine with that awesome 40MPG!
It is also a fine looking truck. Thanks FORD!

Can you suggest a good kayak hitch rack? I have the same need. Thank you so much!

I actually have modified an old Hollywood Bike rack into my kayak rack. Just covered up the arms with foam tubing, and strap right too it. Works great.

Key words..... “ needing a step ladder to reach anything in the bed”. Amen to that!
My last truck 2003 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton ...... full size but useful bed height. Not anymore as you mentioned....
