Just used the Maverick to pull my 224 Blackjack up the ramp. XL Hybrid. Ramp is located in the neighborhood 500 yards from my house. Pulled it up really easy. Didn’t strain at all. Probably around 3500 lbs. I was worried it wouldn’t do it.

Did you pull it up in low or slippery mode?

Excellent information! I have a 19 foot center console with a 150 horsepower Johnson. I was wondering if my long awaited hybrid Maverick would be able to pull my boat one, flat, Florida mile to my local boat ramp. Based on your experience, it appears that it will!
Anybody know if this activity might damage the CVT transmission?

Certainly not for short distances. The main concern would be overheating the eCVT. But for short distances and reasonable load, it will not have time to overheat.

It's important to realize the torque load on the eCVT is completely dependent upon how far you press down on the accelerator pedal not necessarily how much load you are pulling.

I full throttle acceleration run pulling nothing at all will put a lot more torque on the eCVT than pulling a 5000 LBS trailer at reasonable speeds and acceleration.

The only things I would worry about are traction and fully dunking the battery pack in water. I'm sure it's built against water, but that's different than having water pressure pushing in from the sides.

He just VOIDED HIS WARRANTY by Advertising it! I’m sure any Maverick could pull 7,500 pounds. But, Your Warranty only covers 2K, or 4K if equipped.
Don’t be a tattle tale😂

I remember the torture I put my ‘97 XLT (manual trans) Ranger through.. loaded with dirt, gravel, boulders…that truck was definitely Ford Tough!

Good to know.our ecoboost handles our 3100 lb boat easily also.

Not surprised. The low end torque of the hybrid is insane. I was getting up the ramps. I had to use inertial for all my previous internal combustion cars, the hybrid went up there like it was flat.

I used tow/haul mode.
I firmly believe this is/was the correct choice.

Slippery mode is the most gentle of all modes, to help you stay on snow and ice. Nice side effect is it coasts like a dream so can boost MPG in normal conditions. It is going to reduce power if anything.

Tow/haul boosts the engine RPM.
Boosts HP at slow speeds.
Accelerates faster (for HWY on ramps).
Regens stonger to slow you and your trailer, and evokes engine braking at higher speeds, sooner.

Traction control will help you limit slip on boat ramps in any mode.

Slippery in my well tested experience is not meant for wet boat ramps.

I think you did well, and this was no unusual strain on your truck for your application.

The more I read, the more I test & try, the more it becomes apparent the FWD is the weak link when towing. Weight on the rear bumper tends to lift the front bumper, lowering traction on the drive wheels.

If your wheels didn't spin in your condition, you can do this 1000 times.
😎👍🏻👌🏻
