I'm a couple weeks from delivery on my 2023 Maverick and will be selling my 2022 and looking for the EZ button. Checking pricing on Carvana, Carmax, Vroom, etc. I see this statement on Vroom:

"We'll schedule a time to pick up your vehicle. Once we have your car, we'll send your payment within 2-3 business days".

I recall Carvana, etc. issues a check upon pickup...

Has anyone had an issue with receiving timely (or a lower) payment from Vroom?

thanks

Just sold my 2021 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid to Vroom. Signed papers Friday the 23rd, they called Wednesday to schedule pickup on Friday the 30th. Check was in the mail by Friday evening. Was a day delayed in transit so didn't receive until today (Monday), but should have arrived saturday.

I had no issue. Made good money with them. However, make sure you get a receipt from the driver (they hire 3rd party independents), take a picture of your car on the truck with license plate showing and if possible, a picture of the driver's license. The receipt I received was rather lame.

Sold to Vroom twice. I opted for the direct deposit the second time. The morning after they picked the vehicle up. The money was in my bank account.

My issue with Vroom was they were the lowest offer for my trade in by $3,000 their offer went into the trash guess they are spending too much on TV ads.

I have gotten quotes from Caravan, Vroom, car guys, car max and just depends on the day which one offers the most. Computer just crunches numbers but at least one of them will low ball you. :)
Never heard of payment issues with Vroom. Right now they are the top offer on my wife's car.

Does anyone know if you can get a quote from Vroom, Carvana, etc if you have a Maverick VIN# but the truck hasn't been built yet? I need to decide if I want to buy my build (being built the week of July 31st) to turn around and flip it. I would like to know what the offers are before I buy the truck.

Anyone have any experience doing this?

Did you calculate the difference in sales tax wile making your decision? My 23 should be here in the next few weeks so I’m trying to make a decision also.

You will have to register the vehicle before they give you a quote.
I tried it out of curiosity with both of the Mavericks I ordered.
Nothing showed up until they were in my name.

Thanks for the info but that kind of sucks in my case, lol. Honestly I no longer need the truck and would only buy it if I could make a quick buck. If I can't get any kind of firm pricing before I pull the trigger that's not good. Not sure it'll be worth the risk to me.

Being a hybrid it's going to resell upwards of $30k. Just depends on the model and features.
I was offered just north of $32k for my year old EB XLT with 9000ish miles..
The prices have come down on the EBs.
Not sure it is the same for the Hybrids.

The quotes are only good for 7 days, so while you can get a quote when it shows up at your dealer, it could change before you have the registration in your name and are able to sell. Unless you're able to buy via A/Z-plan, once you pay sales tax and registration fees, I'm not sure there's enough left over to make it worth your while.

Yeah I know about the seven day thing. I am able to buy at A plan pricing which on my Mav build is about $1500 off of sticker. Even then when you add in tax (around $1700) in my case I think my Mav is around $29500 OTD. So even with A plan I'm not sure if there's enough meat left on the bone so to speak for me to take that risk.

I sold an almost new Ranger to them a couple years ago without issue and made a few hundred over what I paid new due to Ford giving so many incentives at the time in 2021 for leftover 2020 stock.
I was pretty nervous about the process of signing away your power of attorney/title for the payoff and basically giving them the truck without seeing the $. Also the clause regarding the agreed offer being subject to inspection upon arrival at the Vroom facility was a source of stress but the truck had less than 1000 miles on it and was perfect which I documented with detailed pics before It left me. I’m a bit more nervous about doing it with my current Ranger with 14k miles and a few dings to account for. If they devalue the offer after it arrives and you aren’t good with that you’ll pay to have it shipped back.
CarMax may be a good way to go if you want a firm offer and have a location nearby since they will inspect before the offer is made.
