Last year, my dealer suggested I configure the 2023 model using the 2022 build-and-price tool online and send them that information before the order banks opened for 2023 orders. I think last year the b&p tool wasn't even updated until afterwards. I imagine 2024 will be similar.

I believe there are expected to be very few substantial changes. Packages might be reconfigured though so it would be good to make sure your dealer know which parts of the package are of interest to you.

Also - I think the official Ford order guide was leaked online last year sometime before order banks opened. If you can familiarize yourself with that, you might find yourself one step ahead of your dealer. You might not even need it to leak - some dealers will kindly explain the order guide in online videos and blog posts. In theory - if you walk in to your dealer, that's the piece of information they should use to help you build your order anyway.
My dealer did the same with me and got me in quick

I believe last year the order banks were supposed to open up in June but then got pushed back to July/August before finally opening in September. It's critical to find a good dealer and salesperson who communicates well so you can submit your order as soon as the banks open.

This ☝
And you can make many option changes to the order between the time you place the order and the time Ford sends you a VIN - usually months apart.

The colors were released about three weeks ahead of the official order day. Ford actually didn’t start accepting orders until the close of business on the official day.
I received an email from Ford yesterday that all buy said order a 2024 because you are not going to get a 2023. It mentioned parts inventory and the hybrid engine as the problem.
Ford hasn’t announced a price increase yet. That will most likely happen the week the order book opens. The aforementioned letter makes me glad that I bit the bullet and bought the Maverick I have. The gouging was below the $5000 threshold that was mentioned by someone.

Ford really should not make any initial changes until after all the unbuilt rollover orders are built. This will prevent the need to update those orders to the new options delaying their construction. This is one of the reasons many new my23 orders got built and delivered ahead of the rolled over my22's. They can then make running changes to my24 options.
Ford cannot afford to stand pat if they want to continue to have the advantage in this market segment. Several other manufacturers plan to announce competing models including GM, Chrysler, Toyota and Nissan. Thus demand for the 24 Maverick may be mitigated by these new entrants, some of which may offer equal or better options and value.

We should all be so lucky to have competing options for 24. Not gonna happen. Build the rollovers first, then up options as a running change during the model year run. People can modify their orders then. If Ford wants to remain competitive, then they need to fulfil the existing orders first.

I guess that means no AWD hybrid for 2024? I think Ford has till 2025 before any competition with the hybrid. More likely 2026.

To me this is nuts if Ford doesn't have the new prices and any changes at least a week before order banks. It seems crazy in any other industry.

Several manufacturers are that way, colors, prices, options not fully firmed at bank open. Maverick is special because it closes so soon. Order based on 2023 guide then change or cancel once final changes come out.

They are doing what they did for unbuilt 2022s. Dealers take new orders for them and give them the best priority code. Then, within constraints, those orders get built ahead of most new orders. IF dealers read and follow the message from Ford about doing it that way. Tim Bartz said their unbuilt orders for 2023 were built ahead of the new builds.

When do you think they will announce information about the 2024 Ford Maverick? Does anyone remember when they did it last year and when you were able to place the order?

Thanks!
I remember I was laughed at by the dealer when I told him the reason I was there at 9AM September 15th was because I thought ordering would be closed within a week. "Oh no you'll have a few months, ha ha ha".
Although I was wrong about thinking each day you waited would be a couple of months added to your wait.
Turns out first come first serve meant NOTHING.
This years ordering will be closed the first day - maybe in a just a few hours if the computers can handle it.
Of course the computers will crash like they did last year and nothing will be entered until the next day.
Unless you had a dealer that came back in the evening the first day to enter the orders when the computers came back online - that dealer stay with, I haven't heard of any of them.
And Ford marketing still doesn't understand or antisipate any of this this. - Robert (just another XL hybrid sucker)

I don’t think we will see many changes if any for 2024. Might get a mid cycle refresh for 25. I believe the Bronco Sport is getting a refresh for 24.

While I really like the Maverick, I have given up on trying to get one. I tried to order last year and was prepared to try again this year. I have now had several dealers in my area tell me that they have so many pre orders that it is basically already sold out for 2024 and I'm not going to pay a crazy adjustment price to get one that someone decides they don't want it.

The big appeals for me is the decent interior room compared to 'mid size' trucks, hybrid with great MPG, and affordable price. I will need something before this and plan to keep whatever I get next for 10 years but hopefully by time the next generation is coming out in 2027 they have figured out to get 2-3 times current production.

You are welcome to order from Long McArthur Ford when the year 2024 order bank opens. You just need to figure out how to get the truck from KS to TX. But if you plan to order for year 2024 with them, reach out to them about pre-order, as I recall they did take pre-order last year for 2023. Good luck.
