Hi there. This noise concern doesn’t sound like something we want you to experience with your Maverick. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to look into how I can assist you on my end.

I have had my truck two days, and it made this noise when I was sitting in it, turned off as I read some cruise control instructions.
This is my 3rd hybrid, and I have never heard that noise before. At the risk of sounding like the "Tappet Brothers", it sounded like a thick deck of cards being shuffled. While in park, off.
I'm starting to think this is going to be a very interesting vehicle.

Okay there is a pre- recall notification for a “clank clank” sound. Could this be a hypersensitive reaction? I’m not saying you’re not hearing or feeling anything but maybe an overreaction? IDK just wondering…

I have a 2022 Ford Maverick hybrid. December I had it to the dealer at 1900 Miles because it started making a bizarre noise switching from Ice to hybrid. they had the truck for 28 days, did provide a rental however, returned to me with no problem found. last month I took it to the dealer, a different one for the same issue, they had my vehicle for 8 days with no rental . they said they could not duplicate the sound even though I told them the sound happens at drive-thrus stop and go while driving at traffic speed at times but not all the time. they put roughly six miles on my truck and didn't find anything. when I picked up the truck, I drove away about 5 miles when I encountered the sound once again. I am very very frustrated with the fact that everyone keeps trying to tell me the noise is normal it is not. I have never heard another hybrid making this noise . I am now reaching out to the community in the Forum for your feedback. Please listen to the files I have attached. These are the same files I have sent to THE BIG Ford in the sky and also provided to the dealer. I still have an open Ford case number. It is my second case for this issue and I am trying to get a rental from FORD to get the vehicle seen a third time . The dealer is balking at providing me a rental. I don't think this is fair, more importantly, to my MTC community, are any of you experiencing the noise and awful shudder ? I would like to thank everyone in advance who takes the time to listen to these clips and provide feedback.

SADLY, THESE SOUNDS ARE NOT NORMAL.

Please understand that until 1900 miles, my truck was silent and purred every where I went.

It's the damper clutch between the ICE and the eCVT

I have a 2022 Hybrid that has just shy of 4K miles. Received it in November. Haven't even had the first oil change yet. I believe I have also noticed this noise. From my experience I notice it when I'm going less than 25mph and I hit the gas in a way that starts the gas engine and then have to slow down and hit the brake shortly after the gas engine had kicked in. The gas engine then switches off to cycle back to the electric motor. When this happens, the truck makes a rattle sound like the gas engine is having a rough time turning off and sometimes shakes the vehicle a little. I've only experienced it a few times, and I think it happens more often on shorter drives when the vehicle hasn't been running long. Just my 2 cents and experience, I know nothing about engines.
Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

Try a listen to this: If that's not something loose, I don't know what is.
Sounds like a recall in the making....

Over the past 3 weeks, by truck has started to shudder the majority of the time my ICE engine comes on or off. It varies in severity, but it's pretty much constant now and it's really concerning. I cannot really capture it on video because the shudder is felt more than heard. But I have heard the knocking during more extreme shudder events, like some of these videos, and it's not fun.

I have a dealership appointment in two weeks. I hope they can find the issue. I also had water come into my back seat during two rain storms a few weeks ago. I'm having them address that too. My radio was acting up and I did a master reset. That helped. My brakes were really grabby for 2-3 days and that went away on its own. Hope they figure things out and it's all covered under warranty. Love this truck, but all these little issues make me wonder how long it will last.

Hey! I can take a closer look into your Maverick concerns if you like. Can you send us a direct message with your VIN and the dealership name/location? I'd be happy to see what I can do to assist!

The shudder has been present since the beginning of deliveries of the Maverick Hybrid. It happens on the transition going from electric to ICE, gentle acceleration usually at low speeds where a demand for more power (like a slight grade) causes the vehicle wanting to switch to ICE. It is a violent shaking--feels and sounds like you're driving over a freeway rumble strip.

Myself and others pointed out the issue in early 2022 after delivery (search the word "shudder") Mine did it the first time at 1000 miles and continues to randomly do it since.

After about 18 months I have yet to a TSB or any other explanation or fix here on MTC or from Ford. What we have seen (to their credit) is Ford's PR group monitors the website and will ask for your contact info and make you an appt with the local dealer--sadly they likely can't reproduce it in the timeframe they have your car. This problem is widespread in all Mav Hybrids and anyone who has felt the intensity of the shaking understands there must be a significant risk of serious drivetrain damage if it's not fixed.

The good news is that the Hybrid system has an 8yr/100K warranty already which gives us and Ford time to get it sorted out.
