Im gonna build a solid tailgate mounted bed extender for mine. It will all be flat aluminum and fold flat on the tailgate. Should end up around 70".

Sale it. Clearly you are unhappy with it.

Don't go through life with being unhappy, sale it.

I wish this was sarcasm but I'm afraid you're being serious. lol... It's a baby truck, not a full size. Just put the tool diagonally
Give me it looks like the bed did exactly what it was supposed to do, get all the yard waste in there and have to tool attached as well.

And yet people applaud owners when they hang a 13’ kayak out the bed. Sheesh.

yeah it’s a baby truck, but a Ford Courier had a bigger bed and yet was smaller than a mav.

Your guys’ loyalty is commendable.
What's the problem with a kayak hanging out back?

Note the new Ranger bed and the Tacoma crew cab standard bed are only 6" longer than the Mav's. Whenever I need more "bed" I will use a utility trailer, high rack for lumber or my kayak, or a hitch mounted cargo carrier.

This is a annoyance about the Maverick. The bed is 6” too short.

On my way to the dump to rid some yard waste. A cheap ole garden tool fails to fit. Jeez Ford, if one of the target users is homeowners, garden tools should be a consideration.

As someone who owns a Maverick, and a landscape business, I have a secret to tell you. The tools fit when you put them in at an angle. Either across the bed, or with the business end down. Works every time. Do I also wish it was a 5 foot bed rather than 4.5ft? Heck yeah.

1 - The bed is over 6' long diagonally, put the tool in that way.
2 - Leave the tailgate open.
3 - Get a shorter garden tool.

Or just enjoy that the Maverick checks all the other boxes.
4 - Put the tool in the back seat.
5 - open the rear window if you have one and let the tool stick through it.

I resemble that remark. It's great at hauling my kayak, I just use a hitch extender, really makes this thing fly.

Yes, a known issue. But my friend, that is what makes it a small truck that fits in the garage and is easy to park and drive. Looks like you found a work around. There are options: purchase garden tools that are 6" shorter or cut 6" off the one you have :)

And diminish the effecti of the garden tool by reducing the leverage?

This isn’t the first reply that advocates cutting down tools.

huh. I now wonder how many people out there actually do their own gardening and yard work.
