Beware of catalytic converter thefts

My son's Prius (formerly mine before I sold it to him), had its catalyst converter stolen and completely destroyed the performance of the car. The attached article states how hybrids AND pickups, including ICE types, are especially susceptible.

On the hybrid at least, the cat is tucked up between the engine and the firewall. I think it'd be really hard for a thief to get to

The Maverick Hybrids have always had a second catalytic converter under the truck. In an older thread here on MTC it is mistakenly identified as a resonator.

Correct but the other person was sayingthere was only one and not next to the engine

My 05/22 Hybrid Maverick in CA has a fat second CC way out in the open like a ripe juicy fruit. Last night my neighbor across the street had his CC stolen from a newer Corolla, so I DIY protected mine.

I'm cheap, and happy with a low budget deterent. Lowe's 3/16" uncoated steel wire, one coupler and a bunch of hose clamps.
