Got deep sleep notification yesterday after leaving my OBD bluetooth reader plugged into the car for the past 2 days. Hooked up my trusty DieHard trickle charger to both under the hood and directly to the 12v battery today and my charger simply refuse to charge. It turns on to "analyzing" and just turns off/resets, then back to analyzing again.

Anyone else experience this? Is my charger too picky for this car?

I use the same charger without issue?

I think the stock 12 v battery that shipped with the truck is crap.

They don't expect it to do much.
So guess what? It doesn't do much.
Self fulfilling prophecy?

I put 15 volts on mine for 4 hours by leaving the key on while in park.

Turn off the key, one minute later, it reads 12.4 volts. 5 minutes later, it reads 12.2 volts. Park the truck overnight, everything off, next day; it's in the high 11.x volts.

July built.
Picked it up off the lot Mid-sept with 15 miles on it.
Now has 7500 miles on it.

I'm probably going to go to the dealer to ask for a warranty replacement before the 1 year anniversary.

It gets me to work every day because I drive it 6 days a week. What's gonna happen if I park for a week?

A week battery will climb in voltage fast. Then the automatic chargers shut off. And the DC/DC converter stops charging too. Because, guess what? A 14 or 15 volt reading means it doesn't need further charging.

But the "problem" is these batteries are not holding a charge very long.

Dang you're right, I just hooked it up to another car and sure enough it's doing the same thing. Total coincidence this charger died, nothing to do with the Maverick. Time to shop for a replacement.

After seeing all the hybrid Deep Sleep threads I was a little bit paranoid to see that warning popped up on my FordPass app, then remembered about the BT OBD reader, most likely false alarm.

I do plan on eventually adding a 1500w inverter in the future so will probably have to look into a quality 12v replacement.

Hmmm. I've been riding my bike to work for the last few days because the weather has been so nice. What's the draw on the battery? How about a cut-off switch?

Apparently if you have Fordpass app on your phone it will discharge enough in 3 days to go into deep sleep. Also just walking by frequently with the fob in your pocket will take another day off the charge. Took the app off the phone and left the fob in the house and it’s doing ok! Miss the app but don’t worry about not starting anymore. You’d think Ford could do both, but…….

I don't have Lariat so fob is not affecting things.

FordPass; I like but don't need it.
Deleting it from the phone is all you need to do? Anything to "turn off" at the truck itself?

Didn’t do anything at the truck. The dealer suggested this and I miss the app but I’m getting along without it .

Is there a reason to NOT just shut down the app and then wake it up when needed?
Also, can the truck be told to suspend trying to reach the app on blue tooth.

Would be interesting to measure the draw difference. Weird since there's no reason why these apps should be running/doing anything in the background. In fact I never ever use the app, I just have all the commands such as remote start, lock, unlock, etc all linked to my Google Assistant voice command. Launching the app and wait for it to load before triggering any functions is simply too slow and cumbersome.

But considering a drained 12v battery could leave us stranded, and this being a truck that I'm going to be adding more and more accessories onto, I think it's safer bet to just tackle the source of the problem, and just eventually replace the battery with one that actually works as it should.

My experience has been if I start to get deep sleep messages, my battery minder will be able to fully charge the 12v over many hours or overnight. For many days after that, the truck appears to be fat and happy, but eventually it will discharge the battery enough and fail to keep it topped up so that I begin getting deep sleep messages again after between 1 and 2 weeks. I keep meaning to ask my dealer if they've dealt with this issue already with other customers, but I loathe the whole process.
