Hindsight is 20/20, but may I suggest for future reference to watch videos posted by Long-McArthur Ford when buying/ordering any Ford( they do a great job of keeping the dealer side of things up to date and up front)on youtube and if you are specifically interested in a Maverick this forum. All of the 22 to 23 changes and instructions on how to roll over your order and what packages had changed were explained at both locations.

On October 29, 2021 I placed an order for a 2022 Ford Maverick Lariat with the luxury package and with the Ford 360 Co-pilot as I wanted the vehicle to have adaptive cruise control.

On September 23, 2022 I finally received an email that my Maverick was scheduled for production. It was scheduled for the week of November 7, 2022. On September 27th, I received an email that stated my production was switched to the week of November 14th. On October 25, 2022, I received an email that stated my production was switched to the week of December 19th. That was the last email I received from Ford about my order.

So a week after it was supposed to have been built I used the Ford Vehicle Order tracking page to see if it was ready for delivery. It showed nothing. So in early January I contacted my Ford Dealership and they noted that my truck build had been cancelled and reassigned as a 2023 model to be built on 1/23/2023 about 2 weeks away. I was never given any chance to see the configuration of the 2023 model.

The truck finally arrived at the dealership on 2/22/2023 and I was able to get it on 2/25/2023. Unfortunately the one thing that I wanted most, the adaptive cruise control, is in a different package for 2023. Ford never sent me information that my order had been cancelled and reconfigured for 2023. Since the adaptive cruise control was now in another package, I didn't get it. Ford tells me it is the dealer's fault. The dealer said they didn't know that the order had been changed until I called and asked about the 2022 build in early 2023.

So now I will have to buy the parts and have it installed if I want the adaptive cruise control. Ford won't help out on the cost saying that it isn't their fault, and the dealership also says it isn't their fault. This has totally soured me on Ford and if Toyota does built a Stout, I will get one of those. I must say though that I do like the truck, but I have a long drive to work and the adaptive cruise would have made it much easier.

Your window was 11/14/22 to 11/30/22 to verify your "re-build" order. Your dealer sucks for not calling you or emailing you to verify, but they certainly aren't alone in doing this to many folks, thanks to Ford changing the packages.

Thanks to learning from @fordvideoguy and this group, I drove my salesman to make my proper changes with a couple of emails, followed up with a personal visit to collect the new DORA. I actually doubt he would have done anything different than yours did, but I was not going to take the chance to leave it up to him and get screwed over by dealership ineptitude.

That was a dangerous combination, Ford's screwy transition AND a chance for the dealership to screw it up worse. It should not have been this hard to buy a Maverick as you wanted, but the reality of it is that it was. Unicorns take special care to catch, and by that time, I knew I was in search of a Unicorn and wasn't going to let it get away from me. ACC and the rest of the Assist package are great.
I received an email from ford on 10/25/22 stating that my build date was scheduled for the week of 12/19/2022. Since that build date is after the dates you mentioned, I never checked if I had a 2023 change until about 12/26 because I thought it has been built. The dealer never contacted me with a change to a 2023 until I contacted them in the first week of January wondering where my truck was since it was supposed to have been built by then. That's when they said they found out it had been changed to a 2023.... Everyone here says the dealership was probably notified earlier and never told me. That may be true, but they deny it

Ford told the dealers in a memo in November that they may or may not have bothered to read.

Tim Bartz, from Long-McArthur Ford, shared the memo in this group, so we knew what had happened to the Lariat Lux packages...how it was broken up into several pieces. My original VIN was to be an October 2022 build, then it got moved to that December 19 date, same as yours, which folks reading here knew was simply a holding place date. Ford created new orders for us and dated them 11/14/22.

The Lariat Lux package for some reason was hard for Ford to fix with the re-order process, and any cancelled 2022 VIN order with a Lariat Lux package took an extra few days (I think from 11/14 to 11/20/22) to get unlocked for us to examine wht Ford had reordered for us and make any necessary changes with the dealer. The dealer was allowed until 11/30/22 to change the orders, which were sitting in Ford's order bank with Priority Code 99 (meaning Do NOT BUILD). After that deadline, Ford moved the priority down to 02, meaning the order was ready to be looked at and built. I wanted to quickly get into line, so my new order was entered 11/21/22. Ford started scheduling the cancelled/reorders on 12/1/22...which is when I got my 1/9/23 build week assigned.

It should not be this hard, but the bottom line in this was "Nobody cared more about your order than you" and dealers are not used to this struggle to get product/orders. I said at the time that this process was ripe for dealers to purposefully screw up orders so the original verified orderers would not purchase the vehicles when they arrived, thus getting the dealership more stock to sell with ADM. Lots of 2023 Lariats on Cars.com without ACC. I suspect they are from other folks who didn't get their ACC as they wanted.

I'm sorry your order wasn't built correctly, but in these times, closer tracking was warranted at least to not get purposefully screwed by a bad dealer, or get accidentally screwed by an inept dealer. Sounds like you had the latter.

My original salesman had long left my dealership, and I was not feeling that my new-assigned salesman was devoting the attention needed for me to get my order, so I drove all the communication and was probably considered a pest by him. I last bought a new truck in 2003 and it was simple back then. I had 3 dealers competing to sell me from their lots. Now I know far more about Ford's processes than I ever wanted to know, but it was necessary to learn...and this group is where I got my education. I love my truck.

You lost even though you are right. Count to ten. Get the parts needed and see if you can add adaptive cruise control.

Adaptive cruise is a nuisance on the road. It causes slugs of traffic with everyone slowing down. Just use your foot to pass and/or brake as needed.
It's my opinion from experience and at least one other agreed. It is something that has become more noticeable over the last few years as more cars are equipped with the feature.
Well count me as another that disagrees. The bad drivers I see aren't using CC or ACC at all.

Dealer is flat out lying to you. When FORD replaced the MY22 order with the MY23 order, it was put in at priority code 99. The dealer had to review that order and change it to some priority between 10 and 19 in order for it to be considered for production by FORD. Any orders that were not changed from priority 99 were eventually cancelled I believe. So if the truck was built, the dealer DID make the priority change.

Since Long McArthur read the entire MY23 order guide and most dealers did not, the Lariat Lux was purposely less money so people who wanted the CP360 assist had to order it separately.

It's up to the customer to request a DORA and preview order to guard against price protection violations and ensure they have the details before the vehicle is scheduled for production. It's the second year and the order procedures and options will change each year.

Shopping for the right dealer is as important (or more) as making the right decisions on model, trim and options.

But that’s too hard!

Are you talking about replacing it with a SCOUT from VOLKSWAGEN?

Due to allocations shopping for the right dealer is the most important decision. Some dealers are currently getting stock, not canceled customer order, Mavericks including Hybrids, while others are still waiting just to get their orders scheduled.
