So my patience was rewarded and since October I've been the happy owner of a '22 Hybrid Lariat lux in alto blue. This was a custom order that I originally placed in October of '21, so I waited just over a full year. The original order was for the alto blue based on nothing but images from the web site. Once I saw some photos of real vehicles in this color I decided it was too dark and had the dealer change the order to HPR (this was long before I had a build date). Turns out the change didn't get input correctly and my original order was built as-is. I found this out when I got the build confirmation in September, just before the '23 MY order banks opened, so I went ahead and put an order in for the '23 Hybrid Lariat in HPR while the window was still open because why not?

Now that I've had the '22 for a few months and still don't have a build date for the '23, I'm debating on what to do with the order. The MSRP has increased a bit for basically the same truck. On top of that, things like the SIBL, remote start and CP360 Assist were included in my '22 lux but are now separate options. I'm not sure I'm a fan of the fake leather seats in the Lariat. My wife's Escape has Active-X seats but they seem more comfortable to me, maybe because they are perforated and breathe a little, but they also feel slightly bigger. I haven't had the truck over a summer yet but I imagine the seats get stupid hot in the sun, and could only be worse with the BAP. I will say the alto blue has grown on me a bit, but I think I prefer HPR.

The only must-have feature that got me into the Lariat over the XLT was the keyless ignition. I'm a little annoyed that this isn't an option on the XLT, especially now that the BAP is available. I'm not a fan of the XLT interior but the BAP fixes that and looks GREAT with HPR! I also feel like BAP on the XLT is a bit less of a blatant rip-off than it is on the Lariat, but an XLT also means no push-button start or CP360 Assist. So, what to do with the order?

Use the Ford Pass app to unlock or the unlock button on the key fob.

Look into having your vehicle wrapped in HPR or similar. Compare to cost of getting a 23 Lariat, then decide which makes more economical sense.

If your 23 is a hybrid, chances are there will be no decision because it will never get built since Ford has way more hybrid orders than capacity.

At 2 Mavs for the price of one full size, I recommend keeping them both like I did, spread the miles they will last twice as long. That will protect you from ever increasing truck prices.

But watch out for HPR, it looks too orange in certain light. And I agree, BAP makes sense in the Lariat to get rid of the brown and blue. But not in the XLT because for the same price as the Lariat, the XLT BAP interior looks like an XL. I Iike the denim look in the XLT matched with AB paint much better anyway.

I love my AB color XLT. Per this video, it is deep blue in bright sun and almost black at night.

People should quit ordering multiple Mavericks or reorder the next MY so some of the rest of us can get at least one.
When Ford started accepting orders from businesses in bulk it was game over for regular consumers. The enemy is not a person with 3 order but 3 companies with 1000s of orders

One of best videos I have seen on Mav. My Alto Blue Lariat Lux Hybrid is set for build on 2/27. Already have sticker so guess we are a go. Knew Alto was beautiful color and you solidified it in this video. Btw - did not know CG was that beautiful and showed color change

Wow, thanks for your kind words Jesse! I hope I earn your referrals. I am just a rookie trying to be different than the guys who make you stare at them most of the video. I have over 100 vids now that can help you while you wait.

Yes when I ordered gray, I did not think it could be gold. It's hard to decide which color I like better. My alto hybrid is in Huntington Beach. (Oops, I see you are from TX so don't hold that agaist me, I not moving there!) My carb gray AWD is in Park City. l upoaded some videos playing in all the snow this year. If you ever get to either place let me know.

Hum, well Ford and every other auto mfg has Always had and always will have fleet customers that can order any model they want. They are entitled to the vehicle just as much as individuals

Change your 2023 order to BAP and roll the dice. If you don’t get it then fine you still have that beautiful Alto Blue.

OR maybe go with a better dealer, all of the Mavericks I have ordered have been built.

Your video’s are more about the Maverick experience than they are a review. Exactly why I like watching them 👍

That’s what OP did, he ordered a MY 22 and then a MY 23.

Just note, the seats on the XLT BAP look gray like the regular XLT seats, different from the FORD website photos.

Love my Lariat Lux Hybrid and wouldn't change a thing. The seats weren't a problem for me last summer. The push to start, Active X seats, and ACC/Lane Centering are my favorite features.

Thanks Rick! Nice to hear from you again. I have owned BMW, Mercedes, and Jeep GC Ltd and this has more tech and is more fun to drive than any of those. Sure no piano black but it's a truck.

I started doing videos because I got tired of the big reviewers pretending to be experts based on a loaner. For example, most reviewers hate the hockey puck shifter. I doubt they realized it automatically shifts to park and the parking brake sets when you shut off the engine. It's also a safety feature because it shifts to park when you open the door. No more getting out and watching your truck roll into another car.

Oh, and when you start the Mav, you don't have to release the parking brake. Stepping on the gas automatically does this. No more driving down the road with the brake partially on. I show all of this in videos on my channel.

I also like auto brake hold for long stops at a light or in a long drive thru line at In-n-Out Burger. And I think it is a mistake to not get LUX pack with heated items. Even in SoCal we have cold snaps like right now. Yes we are soft compared to MN & Canada but we are not used to 40 degrees because the ocean moisture cuts right through.
