I have been wanting an Absorbed Glass Mat battery for my Maverick which has the factory B&O amp as well as a Kicker 500.1 amp that I added with a subwoofer. The only one I knew of several months ago was Optima, their yellow and red batteries have been on the market decades and I knew they were good. One quick note is that AGM batteries are not actually 'gel cell' batteries. Those are different and truly dry. I have heard people refer to an Optima yellow or red top battery as a 'gel cell' but they actually are not. (Optima will even tell you that if you check their website.)

Here's the battery for an ecoboost Maverick. (This is not the right 12V battery for a hybrid- I don't have a hybrid and I don't know what type of battery it uses.)

Using an AGM battery won't change anything about when the truck chooses to turn off a circuit, or put the truck into deep sleep. That's all in the ECM/BCM.

All this does is give you a battery that tolerates deep discharge better and gives you more charge cycles. I don't use autostop/start but my understanding is that manufacturers have changed their flooded lead-acid batteries to account for it which is referred to as an Enhanced Flooded Battery or EFB. AGM is superior.

Explanation of AGM:
If you want even more detail here is Interstate's internal training video.

Because Walmart / Everstart has only been offering these AGM batteries for a few years (2020 at earliest), no one has long term reliability & performance info yet. You can spend way more than $169 on a traditional lead-acid flooded battery, so I figure, why not try a cheap AGM? I'll report back in 5 or 6 years. BTW they might be locally hard to find. In my metro area (of about 500k people) there are 8 WalMarts and one of them had 2 of these batteries. The rest had zero.

I've had good luck with Walmart batteries and run them in all my vehicles when OEM units need to be replaced. Let's face it; Walmart doesn't actually make these. You can bet one fo the major battery makers produces them for Walmart on a private label contract, and also that they are exactly equivalent to the same batteries you'll find for higher prices at the major auto parts stores, dealerships, etc.

Indeed, there are very few battery plants in the world. When researching this particular battery (Everstart AGM) I found some people stated that it was made in South Korea. It probably is on the market as some other name as well as Everstart.

You can tell by looking at it that it doesn't have the spiral AGM mats like an Optima, but I saved $100-150 so I'm ok with that.

Is there a programming/Forscan change required for the AGM battery charging requirement on the Maverick?

you can use Forscan if you want, but any Ford with a battery monitoring system (which is definitely the Maverick) you just replace the battery, ignition on (key or push button) but engine not running, and flash the high beams 5 times, then hit the brake pedal 3 times.

I have no idea why this guy shared the info while appearing to walk around a mall, but here you go.

I think you would have to order from a local dealership, no one is going to ship you a car battery via any kind of parcel service. but it's helpful to have the Ford AGM part #, nice find.
RockAuto seems to think FedEx Ground will deliver it just fine, for an amount that varies ~$10-20 depending on your location.

interesting. I tried theoemparts.com and several others and their sites said they won't ship hazardous materials.

someone can definitely try it from rockauto. not sure how you get the core back to them, but if nothing else you can probably bring the battery to an autoparts store to dispose of it without getting the core refund. I'm guessing they take them for free rather than have someone dumping them.

Isn't the stock battery AGM already?
One member here back in October posted that he got an AGM battery with his truck (I think it was a Lariat Eco AWD 4K tow), mine (Eco, AWD, 4K tow) was not AGM from the factory and my father who took delivery of his Maverick (Eco, AWD, 4k tow) last month did not have an AGM battery in his either. I replaced my non AGM with an Interstate AGM last November and haven't had an issue with Deep Sleep mode since after also updating the BMS with Forscan to let the system know I was running an AGM (Different charging profile). I don't know if they're only putting AGM batteries in Lariat trims or if it's just a random thing from the factory but there is no consistent information.

You don't. You'd have to ship it to RockAuto at your own expense which would wipe out the refund from the core charge. Unless you order/pick up from somewhere you can drop it off locally, it's hard to recoup that.

They shipped them to me for both my Focus ST and Suburban. I have had LiFe and AGM motorcycle batteries from Amazon delivered too.

I did not have an AGM on my Lariat. My battery failed and was replaced by this one, which I believe is the same model form the factory. The stickers are different, though. Wouldn't be surprised if it's from another manufacturer.
