I wonder what the endgame is ... really ? Without getting political - is the public being forced into mass transit ( including self driving autonomous vehicles ) due to elimination of ICE vehicles and the sky high price of the EVs being and planned to be produced ? How many young people can afford an $1100 a month vehicle payment plus insurance and registration - whew ???
IMO seems like the endgame is to make transportation as difficult (expensive) as possible for the common man, regardless of the method. They are already experimenting with various forms of taxing any form of transportation in Europe and we're usually a few years behind them on such things.

Love the AD LOL :ROFLMAO:

Leave you unsatisfied

Premature Electricitification (PE) IE Premature Ejaculation

Symptoms include

Not lasting as long as you like:
Man: Plenty of charge before but it goes away Woman: A lot of times

Being sure you have enough power to handle your payload:
Man: I'm not sure I have enough power for this baby Woman: I like to go all the way I don't want to question if we're going to make it

and many more
Ironic that they're making an ad about 'premature electrification' teasing how they're going to have a range extender, but then there's the small print:

Range-lengthening technology to come later.

Looking at that huge camper I thought - yeah if you are towing it 30 miles ...... hahahaha

I'm not anti-ICE. I have an Ecoboost Maverick on order, after all. I think both applications can work. I have no desire to tow large camper and the range of the Lightning-class trucks accounts for 99.9% of my driving. For those applications where I need to go further, we would plan for charging stops or take the ICE vehicle.

I don't believe in forcing these things down people's throats. If EVs are to become the dominant type, they have to win over consumers by being worth it. Otherwise, this is just another 3DTV that has all of the manufacturer support with no actual customer baase.

Today's Super Bowl ad for the Ram 1500 REV

That is a great ad.

I gotta say... I think it looks good. Fresh but not too much like a science project. Normally I'm not a big fan of the brand (jut because a lot of their products are, frankly, obnoxious) but this looks like a nice execution. That rotary PRND shifter, though -- the Mav crowd will never be able to get onboard. lol

What the f150 and rivian EVs have show is that full electric trucks aren't as good as gasoline, hybrid or diesel trucks for doing truck things like towing and going up hill. Until they figure out the energy density issue it will just be passenger EVs that work. Our EUV works great driving the kids around but that's about it. There's 33.7 kWh per gallon of gas so those large battery packs are only equivalent to a few gallons of gas. That's why they can't handle energy intensive activities. Turns out you just can't escape physics.

I know production cars are toned down from concepts all the time. But the decision to make a radical concept when they knew the production version being revealed a month later would look nothing like it was an insane choice. Why make a concept everyone loves, and market how radical your truck is going to be, if nothing that makes it radical was ever intended for production.

The production version looks ok, but the release of the concept just before it makes the production version look like shit in comparison. Just a really idiotic design and marketing exercise. Hype up a concept that upstages your production vehicle, genius guys, really.

I don't want one, but anything that rains on the parade of this unholy shitbox I can get behind...

The cybertruck is really one of those vehicles that needed to go on sale right away while the shock and awe was skyhigh. Now that the hype as worn off, all you're left with is an ugly truck that's first at nothing with a ton of competition from established competitors.

. . . Now, what if Dodge came out with a Maverick sized electric truck starting at say $38K or even a PHEV ?? STILL not one real competitor to the Maverick after a 2022 launch - wow
I agree with you. I like the looks of RAM trucks and wish they would make a Maverick size EV.

Looks very reminiscent to the current gen Ram 1500 but with the new EV front fascia and frunk. The concept I guess was just more of an experiment and for RAM to say, "Look what we can do!" but instead kept it safe and based it off the current gen. Very similar to what Ford did with the F-150 Lightning. I'm relieved because I wasn't sold on the concept since it was overdone for me but nowhere near as ugly as the Cybertruck, if that thing ever comes to fruition (which I hope it doesn't)

Not to pick nits exactly, but I didn't like the concept truck and really love the production version.

I think a lot of consumers forget a concept vehicle is just that: a vehicle designed to test different concepts. In the case of the REV, Ram literally threw everything at the wall to see what sticks. It was apparent in the original release that a lot of what they had mentioned were future ideas.

Once you get past the concept phase and move onto the production design phase, you learn which concepts are doable, which ones need some work, and which ones just aren't really possible in a mass-produced vehicle at a price people will actually pay.
