ESP plans are much like gambling in Vegas - The house always wins hahahahaha On some vehicles you certainly can come out ahead - I bought a extended warranty from Chrysler for my Dodge Ram Promaster because it is such a total POS - just a drivetrain warranty because most everything else is not that expensive or I can fix it myself or I got a bunch of duct tape for the delicate stuff ...... .

I work for a rental car company, all of the new ProMasters we have been receiving now have push button start!

My two cents on Ford ESP plans: If you buy a plan for $1000 in 2023, and only ever need an $800 repair a few years down the road, you likely still made out better when considering 2023 dollars vs 2029 (or whenever) dollars. And an $800 dollar repair is like 3 hours of shop time.

Anyways, if you are comparing plans, here they are in spreadsheet form, which is a little easier to see what each plan adds. The file has two sheets, each with a different layout.

Hopefully everyone is checking out Flood Ford in Rhode Island. It's the same plan (from Ford ESP) and I saved about 2 grand for the same plan. I bought it about 2 weeks after her Maverick came in. Check them out (I don't get anything for talking about them, just trying to help). It's the Ford plan not a fake crap plan and it shows up on the Ford App. Good luck

If anyone wants to double check me that would be great but my plan is to wait till I get close to the end of this three-year 36,000 mile term and then decide if I want to purchase the ESP.

There's a grace period after the b2b expires so you can actually buy up to 41 months, 41,000 miles.

Dang dude I get you want to feel better about the finance manager having his way with you but you paid $1670.00 MORE for the exact same plan you could purchase separately with no interest financing. No one is saying dont get an extended warranty ( unless it is more than 2000.00 for two additional years ) It was not a good deal in so far as what the dealership marked it up, added it on to your contract and convinced you they gave you a good deal. Im sorry that happened to you.

Well... People can say what they want about the transaction you posted about whether you like it or not...

I think the point they are getting at is without much effort you could cancel and repurchase at significant savings. But you do you, free country.

You're right. I got ripped off. Thanks for strongly pointing that out. But don't make assumptions. I never said I trusted the dealership. Across the board the purchase experience was awful. I already gave them a terrible review and won't be going back. But that's another story.

I think you misunderstand what I'm trying to say - the system they set up worked just like the dealership wanted. Probably you thought - ok that's the price when in reality your friendly finance guy marked the price WAY up. You can however cancel the contract and get the SAME exact coverage with no interest for over a thousand less. Really not trying to beat you up - just possibly help you get the extra money back.

Ziegler has it listed on their ESP page. Although some mentions that it costs ~$150 extra purchasing in that timeframe.

I did even worse. On the Honda I just bought I wasn’t paying attention and got the esp for similar to what you paid. After a few days I looked at it more carefully, it’s not even the Honda esp it’s a 3rd party. At least you got the ford one. I was able to cancel it with a 1 page cancelation ford just vin number and Lein holder info. One thing to be aware of is the warrantary company just cut a check to the lein holder which does not change my payment it just reduced principle and interest so it will be paid off sooner.
researching on here I knew when I went to buy the maverick not to take the warranty and if I want it to buy from Flood ford instead. I really like the truck and tend to keep my vehicle long term so may do the longest version of the base warranty.

In the hybrid you get 3yr/36k bumper to bumper, 5yr/60k powertrain, and 8yr/100k hybrid electrical. In an XL, that is low cost low feature, you gotta wonder how much the vehicle will be worth by the time those warranties run out, how likely it is, and how much you'd spend to fix it. In 5 years with 60K miles it's probably worth 15k. I'd use future value as one indicator.

Mine being a 40k vehicle, more skin in the game of things go bad in 7-8 years as I plan to keep it a decade and 150k miles plus.

Thank you for the information and details (more than what I knew about the warranty at this time). Seems the default package adequately covers the major elements of the XL Hybrid.
