Still have a 1996 F150 w/dual tanks. I think around 18 gallons each
Probably not very fun filling both of them up at these prices. 😢 The switch stopped working so I could only use the rear tank.

It is a weird itch, but, it will also set this truck apart from others of it's kind. That's my thought.
The hybrid tank is what, 13.7 gal? Make that into 27.4 and you now have 1000 mile range and at a cost of about $74 at current local rates.
My thoughts in all this is 1 stop trips to the midwest to see family, from Arizona.
Guess I'll have to pan out the cost vs rewards on this thought.

Daydreaming - I haven't even sat in this thing yet!!!!!
Man, if you can make a 1-stop trip of 1000 miles (even at 70mph average speed), you'd be driving 14+ hours on a tank of fuel (or 7+ if you meant "one stop during that 1000 mile trek")! I know they make travel johns and things like that (Depends?) so you don't have to stop, but they really aren't meant to be used while driving. Talk about cell-phone distractions? I cannot begin the imagine the discussion with the insurance agent... "There I was, driving for 14 hours straight, and I unexpectedly needed to pee, but didn't want to pull off he road. So I just whipped out the portal-john, and..." :ROFLMAO: ... ... ...:sneaky:

My dad bought a new 1987 fully loaded GMC pickup that had dual tanks, first year of the FI 350, he drove from Wisconsin to Atlanta without stopping for fuel, they were either 18 or 20 gal each. When he filled up in Georgia gas was under $1 a gallon then!

that sure would make the drive to south america easier. why is the hybrid tank smaller than the EB tank? is it battery location?

i just quit daily driving my 85k10 with dual tanks in favor of a Yukon with a single 32 gallon tank lol. thirtsy v8s.

I would like to know what a custom second tank would cost.

I sold a 93 f350 to a buddy awhile back that with the auxiliary 100 gallon tank plumbed in will have 170 gallons.

I just pee in the big cups from McDonald’s, It’s called recycling! 😁

Ya I do believe the Hybrid tank is in fact a little smaller than the Ecoboost.
Memory serves me right, Hybrid is 13.7 gallons.
I'm getting about 45 mpg which in theory says 590ish miles before panic.
If I could double that fuel capacity, it would make trips back home from AZ to MN really nice.
Distance trips would be the only reason to even fill and utilize tank #2 in my thought process.

I have duals on my 97 F350 diesel. I cry every time I go to get fuel.

As for the Maverick, I think everyone is missing a primary point as it relates to 1000+ mile range: It allows you to pick where you get fuel. This summer I did a 5000+ mile trip from Texas to Seattle and back in a Ford Focus (had 100% planned to do this in a Maverick when I placed my order in October 2021). The difference in gas prices was over 2X between states (or cities within those states). The Focus only has a 300-350 mile range so I carried an extra 5 gallon fuel can with me soI had some flexibility on where I purchased fuel (50 miles was often a difference of $1 - $2/gallon especially around Seattle). Overall, I saved well over $200 in gas costs by planning out the gas stations by leveraging my "extra" fuel. If I had 1000 mile range, pretty sure I could have saved closer to $300 just on this one trip.

That being said, there is absolutely no need for dual tanks on the Maverick. When you need extra fuel, just throw some gas cans in the back of the bed. That way the fuel is fresh and you are not carrying around extra weight when you are just running around town.

I had a '74 Bronco with dual tanks, a 12 and 8 gallon. Don't see what's "cool" about it. Why not just one 20 gallon tank?

Our 7800 lb 2004 Excursion PSD 4x4 has a 44 gallon tank. Running between Austin and Baton Rouge would usually give me 20 mpg with a range of approximately 880 miles. That is the pro as diesel was .99 cents a gallon when we bought it new. Flash forward to 2022 and it now costs me a small fortune to fill it up with that pricey low sulphur diesel fuel.

i had a 50 gallon tank installed in my 2000 F250 diesel. Company is called TransFlow International
Maybe they will make a bigger one for the Mavrick.
They just dropped the stock tank and stuck the bigger one in the same place. Used the factory sending unit also

Been a Ford truck guy all my life:

1966 F100
1978 F250 XLT Supercrew w/dual tanks
2006 F150 XLT
2022 Maverick Lariat Hybrid (soon!)

I want to focus on the dual tanks. Just how cool would it be to have a dual tank system on the Hybrid, giving a person oh, 1000 range?
When I reserved my Area 51 in the beginning of August, I did ask my dealership if dual tanks was going to be available.
The answer was nope, and with a funny look like the kid thought I was from Mars.
So I started doing some research, and ....... my Phoenix metro area has a company that can install after market fuel systems.

Guess who I'll be talking to when I get that truck in my possession hehehe.

But curious, is this something that others have even thought of, considered, desired, or is it just me ???
Did you ever get your Maverick and have the extra tank installed?

Just curious how much weight that would deduct from your cargo capability? A gallon of gas is about 6 pounds so that extra 13 gallons would be 78 pounds plus the extra hardware. . .no big deal really. The extra hardware might spoil the airflow to the undercarriage.

Not trying to rain on the idea, because it has merit if you need range or want to get a load of gas before a price jump. That extra gas would be helpful to add traction in the winter and to get through a multi day freeway stoppage.

If you get it done, check back with how you like it. . .

Or you could just go like this guy. . . . .

No I didn't, ran into some medical expenses this year, but it's still a consideration.

Replacement or add-on gas tanks for new vehicles in the U.S. are a completely different proposition than its diesel counterpart. Gas tanks are part of the emissions and evap systems which is closely regulated. A number of us went down this path searching for larger TRX gas tanks.
